Monitoring the development and profitability of poker bots has become an increasingly challenging task.

Below are my findings related to the bots identified on the Winning Poker Network (WPN).

Botfarm Cash Games NL400+ Since April 1, 2023:

The issue of bot proliferation has been recognized for at least 3.5 years, as discussed in this Botfarm forum thread.

Despite submitting comprehensive reports to the WPN, which unfortunately went unanswered from their security team, I harbor no illusions that they will address the problem. The security service has let down the player community. Therefore, I am reaching out to poker schools, funds, and independent players.

I urge you to examine the hands played by these bots in cash games and MTTs this year, analyze their strategies in training sessions, and actively combat them at the tables. In many games, they constitute a significant portion of the player field, ranging from 5% to 15%.

Here are the aliases for Hand2Note 3 that I have compiled. However, I encourage you to verify and draw your own conclusions.

Currently, Botfarm evolve approximately every 3 months but still employ exploitative tactics, allowing to push back. Given their ability to create over 100+ new accounts per month, eradicating them requires multiple waves of blocking, not just a single sweep. This issue is not exclusive to WPN; evidence suggests that Ignition and GG Poker are already affected. While I lack data from all platforms, it is certain that they will infiltrate wherever there is a lucrative game.

In the end I would like to say that poker is a game of people with each other, not the machines. Interference by machines disrupts the essence of poker. If any room management believes that regular players can be replaced by machines - you are mistaken. In such a scenario, the game would inevitably dwindle or even cease to exist, reaching an untenable scale.

nice one for posting.,

could make an equal post that all these guys are all over ignition games also but their security will never care

wpn security a joke also. let a well known famous bot play for years and years without doing anything. nanonoko slower than the previous regime

Yea these bots are across almost all ignition tables as well
- its beyond ridiculous and whatever they have as a security team has also ignored it

So how do you know these are the bots? I played with some of them (MTTs) and quickly looked at some hands they played and some of their plays (preflop) seems quite bad.

PS: for example: 12bb T9o EP open shove, 3Bet A5o in BTN vs CO RFI deep (could be exploit tho)

Coding bots then selling to people from cheap third world countries willing to run the risk of deploying them. Why even bother playing poker myself in the first place?

no. not at all. i honestly can't think of one reason for caring if people on gray market sites are playing against bots. i can't even think of a reason to care if they are being actively cheated. If I go play in a gray market live game hosted by a guy who operates in jurisdictions legally and illegally why on earth would anyone care if i played against a robot or was cheated? the ethics of the game host are obviously "fluid", i should know this going in.

Unfortunately these guys are on almost every table at 1k on ACR.

I'm reluctant to call bot without evidence, but in this case, identical accounts, all changing style completely and 10xing stakes at the same time.
All of them also have some stats that I've never seen ANY human have previously - and yet every single account listed has this characteristic.

how can bots crush MTT this hard? You’d think they would consistently commit ICM suicide

I used to play stud 8 a lot on acr, and 3/4 months ago i noticed that a couple players played pretty bot like and only wanted to play heads up and would auto sit out anytime someone else came in the game. (i specialized in short handed stud 8 so i welcomed it) its like they were probing to see what worked as it was taking very unusual lines that no stud 8 player ever takes (and it wasnt someone trying to learn the game as they would always try full ring first obviously) .

someone was def trying to introduce a bot into the stud 8 games.

I play a lot of ACR and these have been known by the community there for a long time

Most of the better regs don't complain because at least in cash, they feel like they have an edge over the bots. It's actually surprising to me that the bots win at all and I wouldn't be surprised if it's due to collusion

Have to agree with Donk. These bots are breakeven at best. Card sharing is likely where they make their money and it’s pretty easy to identify when they deviate from gto in a weird line and can be played back at quite easily. Some might say they are profitable to play against.

Maybe the next big training course or book, if one hasn't been made already, should be on identifying and beating different types of bots.

Is there anyone in the industry that would be most qualified?

yeah those that can adjust to their style and profit from it , why would they put out a map on that though .

i personally welcomed when the stud 8 bot came to play heads up but i think they retired it back to the lab after 15 sessions against me.

others might say they've extracted $10mil from the tables.

even if you're profitable against them due to exploiting their exploits (i'm skeptical after adjusting for card sharing and rake) they're still fleecing fish 100x faster than you and reducing your winrate indirectly.

they'll also continue to evolve and become more dynamic making it harder to exploit them and easier for them to exploit you

have fun!
