BTW, where are the inspirational conference calls and webinars where famous poker players inspire us to fight for our rights?

You have celebrities- use that to rally people.

I'd sit in on a call with famous pokerati X. If they asked for my help I'd be more likely than reading some random post in 2+2 about an event I wasn't personally invited to lol.

I don't have a lot of time to put in but a focused forum on ideas (heavily moderated so no flaming?) could be fun.

Really I'd need to understand the underlying strategy, the key swing folks, and the type of reaction messaging is getting before being on point, but some random ideas could be fun.
This is a great idea.

I think that the PPA could maybe (probable suboptimal logistic about to be described) start a thread (not in NVG, or at least X-posted in HSNL and the such) asking, not necessarily for advice within the thread, but for volunteers within the poker player population, people who have for many lost at least their hobby if not their job and who would be willing to offer their expertise in terms of marketing, etc...

I think the idea generation would be a useful part of it- get creativity and enthusiasm going. The more fun the activity is the more volunteers may want to do it.

I may be out of the loop but I haven't heard a lot of creative ideas going around. Getting some crowdsourcing around that could be useful.

I suspect most poker players don't know if they are in key districts as well. If your member is on the right committee that can be a huge opportunity.

Folks also don't realize how easy it is for constituents to, at least, get in to talk with staff (local or in DC). If you had a group of poker players in your area who wanted to meet with the local staffer (maybe it's a rally or a roundtable or ...) they would likely come if presented right.

Hell, PPA could do a whole webcast thing where you do local poker roundtables (discussing the economics of it, the benefits of regulated environment, objections that you hear that are not grounded, etc.). For some you could have folks invite staffers or members. Have famous poker pros up on screen talking about the issues, etc.

Save America's other Favorite Pastime!

Identify key districts/states and what baseball games are upcoming.

Organize an action where folks either protest to save America's (other) Favorite Pastime.

Have someone with camera interviewing folks about how they would feel if baseball was banned by the feds.

Throw clips up on facebook.

Try to get across the mom-apple-pie-and-poker sentiment.

Too late now, but if you know online players are getting millions of dollars (from their accounts) mount a "Five For Freedom" campaign.

Encourage folks to donate five percent of their checks to the fight to legalize online poker.
Could sites even send something on behalf of PPA to folks getting refunds? And follow up email?

BTW would remaining sites host freerolls in appreciation of fighters for poker freedom

Just spitballing here.

@72winner... I really like your ideas. I believe you would be an asset to the PPA in this fight. I do believe the attitudes of congress are changing on Poker. Its too bad the DOJ didnt get the memo. We gotta keep pushing and the grass roots efforts you're talking about are great ideas.

Fundraising. Grinder style...

30% chance we get poker legal if players pitch in.

Legal online poker would mean $50k/year more winnings for you.

999,999,999 callers behind.

Bet is $5k to you. $5k for 30% odds of wnning $50k/year for 5 years...

Your bet...

Sure yes. Now Republican freshmen need to hear from the little old ladies poker brigade. Or "christians for poker freedom". Some respectable middle american style poker players

Was shocked doj under Obama did that. But he's a smart guy and good poker player. My guess is its setting things up for a bigger play.

Needs to show he's tough on crime (eg money laundering).

He probably thought it would stir up a hornets nest. Just hornets are flying away rather than stinging...
