I'm wondering the same thing.

Tapie was only going to pay 80M, PS is ~ 420M.

Seems like PS overpaid for FTP, LA Dodgers style.

Seen on Twitter:

"Pokerstars buys FullTilt for a consideration of $750m, including settlement with DOJ and full balances of players (330m). I'm impressed." : Alexandre Dreyfus CEO of Chilipoker
"Just spoken to Laurent Tapie re Stars-FTP buyout, no comment, he'll put out a release later today..." From Igaming France.

Is the "settlement" for the pokerstars doj trial (aka just paying a fine) or is it for FTP? or PS & FTP?

Must be a massive fist pump for WSOP organizers, they were looking at what potentially would have been the most severe drop in attendance in years after the final hurrah of last year.

Could it mean that GBT is working with Stars? Wouldn't that mean that there will still be an FTP since they've been hiring?

Could it mean that there was some kind of back door deal going on the whole time and GBT has been screwed out of millions?

This could definitely explain why Stars seems to have been ****ting the bed lately but damn.

So confused; I won't believe anything anyways until my $$ is in my hands.

I am absolutely speachless.....but I had to type something in what may be the most epic thread ever...until the day the US legalizes poker of course.

Who's down for some Dom Perignon tonight?

04-24-2012 , 10:56 AM
If true, the good news is people will get their money. The operative word is 'their.'

But, beyond that it does nothing for American poker players because unless a major U.S. based gaming corporation owns and runs the company, they are not operating in the United States legally.

Also, monopolies never work out well. So, getting money back is good. Everything else about this deal is bad. If it even happens.

Press release later today so by Tapie+FTP standards that's in 17 days.

NVG viewcounter exploding btw. Putting the O/U on 5 000.
