One thing i am not seeing enough of is... The different visa requirements per country.

Also how hard is it to survive in say costa rica /Dominican Republic / Bulgaria with just english.

Ireland does have a lot of pros but a lot of cons also.
Rent is expensive here. You definitely do not get value (especially in Dublin)
The weather is bad. Come on.. we don't even have a summer.

They just need to purchase an umbrella and they'll be grand sure.

Also London is nice and vibrant but you need Arabic or at least Pakistani to get by.

Isn't Mexico the easiest option for someone currently living in the US? Potentially you could just pack and drive there, no? What goes into something like that as far as visa and banking.

You're all male and blind to how society views poker players, most women will not go within cooee of you but you only hear what you want to hear when they provide lip service to hour awesome "careers". Ever wonder why youre always single or can only get utter airheads and gold diggers to date you guys?

"i provide value by pumping money is society" Oh p*ss off, so you provide what everyone else does anyway except the tax bit, and except when your not running well too of course.
idk, maybe its different if you're an old bitter man but most women i meet are not thrown off by the fact that i play poker for a living at all.

Pros who say "well I provide value to the economy by being a high earner and pumping money into the economy"....are just saying the same thing as any high earner doing whatever who refuses to pay tax. Cant you guys comprehend how this looks to the layman? It makes us look like total scum
what gives poker players the right to avoid paying what everyone else does is the LAW my friend. and i for one do not care for any laymen that think of me as a scumbag (which again is a broad generalization, something you seem to be quite fond of).

it seems to be very relevant to you what the average joe thinks of you. DUCY this is not the case for every person? and i have plenty of friends outside of poker, you really should stop with these ridiculous statements.

whatever tax applies is taken immediately from your balance by stars/ft the next day.

the rest of the regulated companies don't apply any tax on players' winnings, but there are many sites where you can't (legally) play anymore (party, 888, winamax, ps.fr to name a few)

I pay 'rip off the foreigner tax' whilst in Thailand.

And when I go back to Edinburgh I pay weather tax.

But no income tax! weeeeee

I don't know if this is a unpopular opinion, but if you have to move to a country with low costs of living to make your poker profitable: don't.

You're leaving everything behind to play a card game for a living, a game that is rapidly declining in popularity. Unless you make a very good living and some more out of it: my advice would be to not move.

Agree to a certain extend, but if you're young with no real commitments and want to do some travelling and are making money at poker then it's a good way of funding a few years travelling. As long as you know when it's time to call it a day and think about a proper career.

First, for American's we don't have an option to play online and stay. So we have to move. Second, I am old guy here (49) with a pension so cheaper is always better. Same goes if you have to live off poker winnings. The less you have to live off the faster your bankroll grows and the faster you go up in stakes. Third, I was in the Navy so I know travel is fun. Lots of the places mentioned here are just plain fun to go to. And lastly, I think lots of the guys just want to go somewhere there are cheap and easy women. And I am totally down with that.

Absolutely, that's why Canada is a terrible choice, not to mention the weather. Come to Thailand!
