dude, he could easily chunk it all off.... it's happened many times in the past.... if it was me i'd continue my aggressive play and go for the glory ...the hell with the player of the year award...... making final table is so much better than player of year....anyone else agree????

question---- what would you rather have assuming money was the same, player of year or final table finishing 8th

I find it shocking he cares more about the $8.7 million than he does the POY points...

He'll have the lead locked up, but not the award. WSOP-Europe counts towards POTY now too.

Of course... if he outright snaps off the ME for 500pts you might be fine to go ahead and call it.

Hellmuth didn't show up in costume this year. He wore a suit (no hat) and was broadcasting his entrance by himself for ESPN.

Will the WSOPE Main Event also award 500 points to the winner, despite having way less entrants?

congrats Ben, only WSOPE stands between you and the title

Lead day 1&2, plus top 5 chip counts on 3 out of the other 4 days. It's gotta be the ice tea w/lemon. Gonna be the first ME winner to sponsor Lipton

You can be good, but you just can´t be that good. There´s a guy who runs super uber hot in every WSOP, and you will never hear again from most of them. Jeff Madsen, anyone?

I´m not saying Ben Lamb is not a great player, but he has to get into very favorable situations (i.e. run hot) A LOT to have those results in a very short time frame.

Just to give you a hint, he basically won the PLO 10k vs Lars by getting it in with 6 high (?) and a huge draw vs top two on the turn. He basically flipped for the win.

2nd deep ME run in two years, 14th in 2009, was chip leader in that until "Begs Begs Begs!" cracked his Aces for the cripple with two tables left. He's consistently made $250k+ a year since 2006. I've played with and watched him play since 2005, and have always thought/known that he IS on another level.

So he would be a better player had he coolered his opponent with set over set to win?

what he's doing in this main event is just beyond sick, I would be shocked if he didn't make the November 9 at this stage.... although the 4 month break is really gonna **** with his momentum
