Belgium wanna apply same law as in France Belgium wanna apply same law as in France

I read an article yesterday, Belgium is gonna vote a law like the french one , it ll be limited to homeland casino... It s even worse for us cause how many people are gonna play ? Wich limit, we are a so small country...It s lobbying again from casino and national lottery.

Also in that article, they say that Belgium is gonna do everything possible to do a law vs( they don t say versus but for me it is....) poker in the european union during his Eu presidency...

It s against all european law concerning free trade, when will all big Pokersites realize that and take mesure to fight instead of taking stupid licence ????

Sorry for my english...

Don t think so, and i also don t think Stars or Ftp would invest money to create a site for 10 belgian fishes....I think i ll have to move abroad but don t know where , i m at french, holland, germany, luxembourg border but what if they do that for the whole europe ?

I hear that Betfair is gonna post a complain to european union , i don t understand why other Poker sites don t do the same and also country like Malta ??

Seriously insane, im going to study in Belgium next year.

I guess beer is going to be the main hobby instead of poker.

National sites like pokerstars.it and .fr are allready pathetic but a total ban like this.

I seriously think all european poker players should start forming a group against these silly protectionism rules against poker. We want a worldwide platform not a national lame one. I know it is not likely to succeed, but I don't want to wait around doing nothing while my hobby is being destroyed.

It's obvious every big western-europe country is going to implement it sooner or later. Expect Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK to follow suit eventually and it will probably spread further from there on out.

If we could get some media attention somebody creating the law might come hear us out.

Pokerstars has negotiations going with Casino de Namur (1 of the 9 casinos that will be allowed to provide online poker services) in order to get a licence.

as OP said, a national site would be a disaster, since there would be so little action and grinding cash for a living would be nearly impossible. Also, knowing the Belgian governement, I can't see taxes being lower than in France. If nobody stops this then every pro living in Belgium is screwed.

I think a national stand is not big enough anymore at this point, we should make it full of european players. But anything we can set up I will participate gladly.

Let's do something else than striking this time. How about we arrange a date, call it "grind for poker"-sunday or something, and everyone participating tries to get 50% more hands in than they usually would? It would show Stars we're not anarchists but constructive people who love the game and want to continue playing it. Obviously we would have to strike if they are not willing to negotiate or defend our rights

On the plus side, full tilt probably won't take a license and won't give a **** about banning us?

I doubt it. The only other site I see getting a licence any time soon is Unibet, for the others it's probably not worth the hassle.

That's not a reason to not take action though

Anyway that really sucks. I just hope politicians here in Switzerland won't do something stupid like that. It really isn't only a national problem though, cause with every nation that does it the player pool gets smaller, which hurts regs whether they're european or american.

If they have to be linked with a local casino, I doubt full tilt will go through the hassle, let alone find a casino that wants to be linked to them. They are still pretty shady .

well in that case that's France that wanna apply the same law as in Belgium.

Back to the topic tho:

I don't think belgium will invest on a stars.be, as said before, since we don't have that much players.

We'll see how it develops, we still have a year or so...

At the very least there should a single platform for all EU countries. This should be achievable if there is enough lobbying pressure put on. First step would be to merge the player pool of .it and .fr.
