i went to star city and crown casino on the weekend...

crown: they have poker pro tables which is all digital, touch screen, like online.. they had 100nl and it was full of fish, guys going all in with 75o all in pre and pealing off with nothing. Then you have the actual 'real' tables which is a bit better but still it's worse than 2nl

star city: they have a new poker room which was packed on tues night and wed night when i went there which was good to see. Games were juicy at star with only one good player on my table but no one knows anything about bet sizing/pot ratio so it's easy money - got up 120 in 2.5 hrs and played like 8 hands, very boring full ring.

it's also annoying when you raise pre to like 10.00 you still get like 4 callers.

was anyone at star on tues/wed night>

Anyway, I can't actually remember the last time they had more than one $5/10NL running. Was the action looking good despite the long waiting list.

Was there at crown last night playing the 2/3 (200 buy in). On my mates table was a drunk dood who was open shoving as his default action pre-flop. I saw one pot where he open shoved for $650 (so thats 216BBs) , my mate called him with AK suited. The drunk guy had A2o and hit his 2 on the river . Then he did the same thing again like 2 hands later and some guy called him with KK. the drunk guy has 55 and hit his 5 on the flop.

He could not really speak because he was so very drunk and actually got walked out by security (they did the cash out with him, which was for over a grand). The security had to hold him up as he could not stand.

Crown can be pretty random like that. If you are happy to get it in for 200 or 300 big blinds pre flop with your aces or kings you may profit That being said there are other tables that play fair slowly but you always get a lot of callers. The funny thing is that I find the bigger people make there preflop raises the more callers they get. I had kings UTG and put in a bet of $20 and got 4 callers plus the button "completing" because of "Value!".

So if you are happy to play mega nitty TAG style you will generally profit pretty big in those games as long as you don't lose the mega flips.

i play at starcity sometimes. Their was more fish when the poker tables were located downstairs, probably slot machine players or pit gamers taking a stab while drunk.

Jade Tavern seems more my style (read: bankroll). Walked past it a few times, looks like a bit of a hole though.

Guys in my homegame a while back used to give a couple of others shti for using the table-pile-mess-up-regather method of shuffling. Then I showed them the PAD dealers doing the same and it shut them up.

$5/$10 2000nl , is easilly beatable, on fri/sat nights it's mega juicy.

im a sydney based player, used to grind pokerdome (newtown wen i was 16 through to 18) until i was introduced to star city cash games. i must say, the games r relli soft, with the only downside being the rediculous rake and time charge.

i mainly play on the 200, but have taken many shots on the 500/2000, where i usually tend to run so extremly bad. i rember zhi this old asian degen who some ppl claim as a relli good player called my turn shove with just a 6 high flush draw and hit it on d river n he tried justifying to me it was d correct play lol!!! the guy had nowere near d right odds to call, newais just my 2 cents.. i believe if u build up a roll n grind d 200, 200/500 u can make a pretty decent living. atm im busto due to taking shots n running extremley under EV ....

so if any of u sydney siders know any underground clubs or cash games besides star city can u pls PM, or just reply on this thread, im sort of sick of that place atm and need something new...

I'm playing in Sydney for a few weeks before my flight back to the US. Rake is terrible as are drink prices and service, but the games are crazy soft. I've been at the 200 because I don't have the bankroll for the swings in the 500 and 2000. So many big time gamblers who KNOW I play tight and pay me off anyway. I don't even go on Fri/Sat that often because there are too many casual players who hold onto their one buyin like it's their first born. During the week there is crazy action.

I just avoid the handful of regs who actually adjust their game and won't pay me off. I can count them on one hand.

the 200 5-5 game is a flip fest but if you can get deep its probably not bad. take a shot at 5-10 before you leave?

There was 2 5/10's running last saturday.

Usually on weekends they open a 10/20 (1-5k BI) that kills the 5/10 game/s though.

what about the PLO2k game? how often does it run?

I don't think it's capped 2k BI, it was 10/20 blinds and looked soft last weekend. I wish I knew how to play PLO..
