Well I for one would be very intrigued to hear the thoughts of the players at the table on this, perhaps you are right and no one even took any notice of what was in the chat box,or maybe they felt like telling him to stfu but were a bit timid about doing so given DN's standing on stars. Either way,I don't think DN did himself any favours to a wider viewing audience.

At some point DN asked in the middle of a hand a player dazzzy2004 if his city belonged to russia.

and the player seemed a bit annoyed with daniel and said:

"please daniel, Denmark"

and daniel said "how im I supossed to know, the city ended with the letteres "ov"!"

to this dazzzy replied something like "you should google it".

after this I think team pro Pat, asked the player if he had been at his table yesterday, and dazzzy said yes with a smile, a bit more nice to Pat than daniel, then Pat said he was rooting for him, and he said ty, that he needed it right now, cus of being the short stack.

Haha, always something to whine about. Not like it will disturb their play like it would in a live tournament. None of the actual players complained.

Didn't see the comments -- but what does a tourney host even do?

I can't really think of a role that DN would serve here other than Q&A. If he did raise questions like bet-sizing/etc, that is crossing the line. Especially when all this information can be of value to opponents and can be costing others $EV.

I blame Stars for even HAVING a host at the final table...

If Daniel was commenting on play then he's incredibly out of line.

If he was just asking questions then who the hell cares? It's not like he was actually talking to them, they don't HAVE to read the chatbox. Grow up.

I'm sure (assuming this is the case) that whoever was in a hand wasn't "really" distracted. I mean, just block chat if it's THAT bad.

Sheesh.
Even when you turn chat off I'm pretty sure TeamPro chat still appears since it's not "normal chat"

I really wish that the people who didnt see it, that they stay out of the thread.
They have no idea how distracting it was.

kk i'm staying out of this MIGHTY thread. oh wait, i'm already in this thread.

my wild guess would be all this "hey, i wanna be buddies with everyone. hey, i can't shut my mouth for 2 minutes. hey, i have to comment on every action that's going on" has something to do with his height.

No more like, "I'm in London, Stars had their open bar WSOPE party tonight, I got hammered, It's now 8am here, these guys are playing for more money than I've been around in awhile, I'm short, my insecurites are now showing, everyone thinks I'm gay, wait, I think I might be gay, I know, I'll be the quirky, funny Canadian that everyone loves, hey, Maridu is calling someone saying I'm over the line, WTF why doesn't my chat work?"

Daniel was doing his best to make the final table more interesting for rail birds and he did a good job at that. You people that think that he was out of line are crazy. The bet sizing comment was clearly a joke... like how do you figure out 1,104,992 is optimal because of the largeness of the number and betting to the single digit or 10 digit

It wasn't interesting, it wasn't cute, it was embarassing and out of line for the situation. Plan and simple.

He's a complete embarassment now, a clown who's clinging to his notoreity.

It was the final table of the main event,I'm assuming that's plenty enough exciting for most people watching,it certainly was for me,why on earth did DN think it needed an injection of his particular brand of ass-clownery to spice up proceedings when the main focus was on a tense and highly pressurised game of poker with millions at stake?

+1

I've never had a problem with Daniel's chattiness when I've seen him on TV, but his comments last night were just so tilting it actually made me STOP watching. I felt really bad for the players, some of whom were in the same time zone as Daniel and had been playing for practically two days straight for life-changing amounts of money.

I thought the purpose of the host was to announce the prizes as players bust out and to help facilitate any issues or deal-making. It's like nobody told him what he was doing there, and he just decided to act like he was part of the game.

Maybe he disappeared because one of the players contacted Stars and complained about him.

Yea, obv he went too far/was stupid, and it couldn't be more clear that Stars shut him down after the bet sizing comment.

The pros did a horrible job of hosting throughout WCOOP, but you do need to have a host of some sort.

Stars needs to get their hands on another Lee Jones type host. He was solid back in the day.

I thought Barry Greenstein got the blend just right in the final of the event he hosted, subtle humour at just the right time, never intrusive into the flow of the game or talking when hands were playing out and immediately on hand to help with stuff like skipping breaks/giving the numbers.
