$10 on Kanu vs anyone else can put $10 on Galfond (if any other 6 win its a push)

Odds on JM? Dislike him for the whole Girah affair, but he'll crush this pretty comfortably in my opinion. Surprised VB didn't get involved. The structure screams an easy score for him. Think JM will take it down and Sauce will be close. Haxton I am sure will put in a good account at the stakes, but who can forget how Isi destroyed his soul earlier this year. Was just beautiful.

Isi v Dwan 1 million each late November 300/600 blinds. 4 tables. Play to the death!

I tend to the belief that HSHUNL favours those who are recently battle hardened and playing the game day in day out.
Which is why I think the top two will be Ben 86 and Kanu7. (assuming that they do not play each other prior).

Although sample size suggest rungood will prolly decide.

That seems a bit shallow for 4-tabling heads-up. Some of these matches could end pretty quickly.

Hey by the way...Blom won money off of everyone he played in his Superstar Showdown, even though the sample size against some guys was only 2,500 hands. That seems pretty amazing. What's the variance over 2,500 hands heads-up? Even assuming that Blom is the best HUNL player in the world, could he really be expected to win at such a high rate over 2,500 hand matches?

Kanu said in the other thread Isi wasn't allowed to play cause of signing with FT

You say you have an edge but are only willing to go even money?!

I'd put up $10 dollars for Galfond, if you were willing to put up $20 for Kanu. The field is a wash?!

Matches are so short the edges are just tiny. loveminuszero being a mega nit not wanting to bet $10 on Kanu vs $10 on Sauce trying to take the extra edge of being against $10 on Galfond

FWIW, this was an open competition, not an invitational. Admittedly there was very little time to sign up after the announcement was made, but the last two spots were filled first-come, first-serve. Prior to that the criterion for receiving an 'invitation' was simply that we emailed anyone who we thought would be likely to want to play, but an 'invitation' wasn't required to sign up.

Nobody who wanted to put up the cash and play was turned away.

Oh ok gotchya, thanks. I was actually wondering why some of the "invitees" were people I'd hardly heard of before. That explains it.

It's clearly a sucker bet. How can you put Galfond as even money with Kanu7 considering the huge difference in number of recent hands Kanu7 has played when compared to Galfond? Someone stated this, and you still said you'd take the bet. Do you hate money?

What are the payouts like? 550K First and 250K to the runner up? With each putting up $100k, does it mean they will be playing 50/100 in the quarterfinals (1000bb buyin), 100/200 (1000b buyin after winning the first game) in the semifinals and 200/400 in the final with the top 2 splitting the profits?

From what I understand, indeed that is how the payouts are. However, I believe that $50/$100 will be played throughout the whole tournament except for if a match were to exceed 3000 hands played, stakes would, if so, be doubled.

If that's true, it's between Viktor and Full Tilt Poker. From the PokerStars perspective, all members of The Professionals were welcome to play. Perhaps one or more will join us for our next All Star Showdown?

We haven't discussed which stakes the second round will be played at. If there's an overwhelming consensus in this thread it will be strongly considered.

It doesn't affect payouts or play.

First of all, really cool that we actually have a "say" in the matter. And second of all, I guess it would be pretty cool if the stakes rose one level per stage of the tournament, ie $100/$200 in the semis and $200/$400 in the final.
