Cliffs: was banned from partouche final table beause he was accused of cheating.
although partouche claimed to bring this to court, it seems theres no investigation from officials yet.
Now Ali has taken a french lawyer and wants 1.5 mio from partouche (1.3 mio for possible first place + 200K for the damage his reputation got)
first date on court is 1st april, no joke.

The decision to ban him was very dangerous. When there is no investigation yet, Partouche is probably not able to precure clear and authoritative evidence.

Ugh.. this is not a good precedent. A big part of the reason that sites and casinos are terrified to confiscate funds and refund players is because they're afraid of lawsuits like this.

Having sites and casinos accountable to legal authorities for seizing money from people is a bad thing??

In theory, of course not. In practice, yes.

Thanks to Google translation I now know that the article has a picture of his female attorney rather than of the accused. Niiiice.

lol? If they can reasonably prove that he was cheating, then they have nothing to fear. If they can't, they shouldn't have banned him for cheating.

That's the natural consequence of operating in a properly regulated environment.

In every other area of the economy, the courts serve as the final arbiter on any dispute, seems fair for it to apply here too.

based on what was he removed from the tournament? What was the proof used that he cheated? And by a proof i mean a proof that does work on court aswell? If there wasnt one i see him winning this pretty clearly

it wont have to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. just balance of probabilities or preponderance of the evidence. pretty sure they can meet that requirement.

Watch the photographer behind his opponent between 00:25 - 00:34, then you decide.

that's in Barcelona, not PPT Cannes. And not a real proof which would be relevant for a judge!

Not to mention that last month him and his POS cronies were caught and thrown out of the DOM classics in Utrecht (Netherlands).
The casino couldn't prove signalling without a doubt but his fake blog friends were there again... of course blogging behind the opponents in the hand.

When he signed up for the PPT he agreed to all the terms and conditions- conditions which allow for the disqualification of a player if he is suspected of cheating; So basically my point is this will not be an easy case for him at all

I actually disagree with you here.

Very often laws get improved because they have led to undesired results. Not applying these laws at all just leaves a constant grey area that noone feels comfortable with.
