yeah really have some sympathy, the guy just had 400k stolen and making assumptions that he was dodging taxe when you do not know the indivual or the story is very immature and out of line, you shouldnt be called stupid or made to feel bad becasue some low life thief commited a serious felony. i hope the chips are recovered but highly doubt they will be . good luck

And it is the victim's fault because he shouldnt have that much of HIS money in HIS house. Oh and we have also convicted this guy of tax evasion too. God dammit I love this site. I really think there should be some sort of test given to be able to post here.
spot on, couldn't agree more

yep my guess is it was somebody that he knew , someone who knew his habits and where the chips were, look at his fellow friends who play poker imo

Assuming that a story about the theft of large sums of money is true, without any details or support of any kind despite repeated requests seems naive to say the least. We know nothing about the OP, nothing about the presumed victim, and nothing about a $400k theft, which would no doubt have made the news if it had been reported to the police. Google shows nothing about a recent large theft of casino chips in L.A., Las Vegas or anywhere else. Maybe it's true, but since we're calling people on making assumptions, lets not assume anything.

VanBrooker says LAPD has video footage from one of the casinos shows Campbell cashing in at least $200,000 in chips.

After working with LAPD for the past month, McDonough County deputies arrested Campbell outside his home Monday, and say they found $40,000 cash and $20,000 in poker chips.

Campbell was lodged in the McDonough County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond with no 10 percent to apply. He appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and indicated a family member was attempting to make arrangements for his bail.

Can't wait to hear stories about this guy from regs at the card rooms. What if he jumped into bigger games and just blasted off a ton of money.

Did this guy know OP's friend? If this was just a random robbing, I would be amazed.

OP is a well respected high stakes pro, so yes we do know something about the OP

Also.. I don't know about calling the police.. they in general are idiots when it comes to this stuff. I had a buddy who had a snowboard stolen and they saw it for sale on craigslist. They called the police and the ****ing police called the number and said they were the police and wanted the board back. Guess what happened... the thief hung up and disconnected the number. That was the end of that.
Best story of all time!

Was the thief a high stakes player or something? How come the casino would just let a rando exchange 200k in chips?

LOL why wouldn't he just buy into smaller games with the chips, play for a bit then cash out. Rinse and repeat.

if you have $110k outgoings every month, robbing seems like a reasonable solution.

Yeah that would never arouse suspicion. Just go to eighty 1/2 No limit games and whip out one 5000 chip in each....have the dealer make change from the box....play a few hands and there you go.

LOL...the percentage of half wits that replied in this thread broke a record.
