I'm not from the US and I like the start time :P

Will be just starting when I get back from lunch. I will just fire up the stream on my fourth monitor, and if I'm lucky it will all be over by 5pm. Good afternoons work me thinks.

If Ben goes out in 3rd, Heinz has a cake walk to main event winning. Staszko has been running bad and getting run over by Heinz.

Not in Australia, if it is starting at 9pm NY time.(currently 1:14am in AUS).

Don't count out Stashgo. He could always get a sick run of cards.

running bad early in the FT yes

3bet shoving light with good FE in the good spots and being called with his best hand (A8) and shipping the flip isnt running bad and getting run over

either he had nothing at all before dinner,or he had friends who made him change gears, but stazsko isnt weaker than the 2 others at all
11-08-2011 , 11:53 AM
about 10hours to begin??

This is like 4am EET
worst time ever

second most enjoyable event to watch after Champions league final!

lol @ Euros thinking this is a bad time. This is an American show, produced by Americans, and on an American TV channel.
The players themselves start playing at ~5:30 pm
On the east coast, TV coverage starts at 9:00pm and on the west coast at 6:00pm.

Perfect for the players, perfect for the viewers (Prime time for the targeted audience)

You should all be ecstatic that ESPN/WSOP is being as accommodating as they are towards Europe.

Just made a rather big bet on staszko.... 7/2.

Ill agree he is a big underdog, but one tajm bejbi !

Its called World series of poker not Usa series of poker so its rather insulting this starting time as for us europeans its in the middle of the night

he specifically mentioned the UK, not Europe so you fail. I don't see the Czechs and Germans bitching about it, only the people from England who don't have a player in it

What it's CALLED, and what it IS are two different things.

I mean, I get what you are saying, but since this is being held on US soil, US times prevail.

When the World Cup gets held, they don't try to schedule the matches to take every other countries time zone into account, and fans get up at all hours of the night to watch their team play. If you are a poker fan, same type of rules apply - if you want to watch you have to bear in mind that it's held in the US.

I don't see how 9pm ET is prime time. That way it will most likely finish in the middle of the night even for a lot of Americans.
11-08-2011 , 12:27 PM
I'm in Europe and it starts 4am my time. I think bitching about the start time is absolutely hilarious. Yeah, it's the world series of poker, it should be a primetime show in every country at the same time. ****ing timezones, how do they work?

Yeah, but I would suppose the starting time is more important. It draws the people to watch it from the beginning, and if they find it exciting, they're propably not going to turn it off. Specially when playing heads-up, every hand could potentially be the last one.

I for one am outraged that a US based poker tourney is being broadcast on US TV at a US friendly hour. Why don't they just start at 2pm in the US? Sure, everyone is still at work, and it would cost ESPN a ton of ratings and poker in general a ton of exposure. But since this would be more convenient for me personally, it's clearly the right thing to do.
