You not only quoted your own post, you +1'ed your own post as well? That has to set some kind of record for arrogance.

re: What have they done lately comments:
  • A gambler must have played poker against acknowledged top competition,
  • Played for high stakes,
  • Played consistently well, gained the respect of peers,
  • And stood the test of time.
  • Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.

James Butler Hickok was inducted 100+ years after he died.
Edmond Hoyle was inducted 200+ years after he died.

To those asking about McEvoy - obviously he won the WSOP main, he was the first ever satellite winner to win the main, he was the driving force behind making poker rooms non smoking (almost deserving for that fact alone). Not saying he should get it, but he's certainly as worthy or moreso than some of this list (Duke, Juanda, Luske).

Personally, my pick was for Jack Mclelland. He was WSOP TD for 15 years, and has since been involved in the WPT heavily. He stabilized structures and schedules for WSOP, and helped grow the brand from a gathering of texas old boys to be ready to explode when the boom happened in 2003.

lolwat

Only winnings is accountable, which is like saying a bar that had $500k in sales for last year is much better than one that had $400k.

Anybody who lived in Vegas during the 80's like I did knows McEvoy was pretty much the face of poker during that decade. Yes, Chan was the best player during that decade but McEvoy was poker's ambassador during those years.

He has won the Main Event and has 4 bracelets, he cared about the integrity of the game/tournaments more than most, he is a prolific author, and was instrumental in non-smoking tournaments. He would have my vote for entry.

I don't particularly like everything David Sklansky has said, but strictly from a gambling/poker point of view I think he should eventually get in. Hell, just for the impact of his books alone he should get in. He also has 3 bracelets.

Huck or Scotty. Both guys are amazing players with results to show it. Especially Scotty, regardless of his poor behaviour he has results.

+1. There's more to getting in the HoF than being a good player imo.

BarryG and Johnson FTW.

I think the pros will be pulling for Barry. I believe Doyle tweeted back when Seidel went in that Barry was next, if he had any say.

I think John Juanda is the best card player on the list.

If you put all the players on this list in a high stakes mixed game. Winner gets in the HOF. My money would be on John Juanda to win it.
