Wild assumptions. What makes you think rake will be reasonable? What makes you think competition will be ample? You know they're going to restrict what sites we can play on and what sites can serve us, right? You know this is taking away our freedom, right? You know this isn't the legalize online poker act, but the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement II act, right? Did you like the UIGEA? Did you think it went far enough to prohibit online gambling? I sure hope so, cause they're going to go further and prohibit more if they pass this bill.
So in your "zomg raking in 80 big blinds per hundred sustainable!!!" fantasy land, how much is the government taking out of your winnings? You know they are going to claim the right to arbitrarily raise their taxation right? You know how it really ****ing sucks when a poker site all of a sudden raises their rake, even just a tiny amount? Well imagine all the poker sites doing that to you collectively. That's what it's going to be like when the government is taxing online poker and decides instead of reducing spending they want to raise taxes.
Online poker is going to be the first to see taxes raised on.
Your winnings are going to be taxed as income. Did you know that the supreme court has ruled that the government can tax you 100% of your income? Politicians consider leaving you a percentage of your income a 'courtesy'. Don't you think that's wrong? Don't you think this has very bad implications for online poker?
