Are you a child? Who cares about the "value" or "legitimacy" of WSOP bracelets. They can have a 10 million dollar buyin with only 5 guys and if they want to give a piece of that to charity I would give the winner two bracelets for being so degenerate/generous.

It's just a game and for some it is just a job. Stop making it more than it is.

I think its hilarious people think this is a disgusting insult to their current life woes (10k buy in is standard - ask any multi job worker on minimum wage, or sub minimum wage with no benefits/legal standing)

I wanna see isildur pony up the one million only to bluff off his whole stack with 6 high in the first level.

If Guy sort of owns this charity then I would imagine that they're on the up and up, but they should really disclose some sort of info as to what they do if they're going to be begging poker players for donations.
Really? Seems pretty clear to me:

More specifically, ONE DROP Canada, in cooperation with partner Oxfam and others, develops access-to-water and sanitation projects in countries where access to this vital resource is lacking. In addition, ONE DROP is involved in raising awareness among individuals and communities on water-related issues to convince them to mobilize for universal access to water and urge them to adopt sound habits for managing this precious resource for future generations.

ONE DROP projects use a tripod approach based on three complementary components:

Technical – To improve access to water and promote responsible use of this resource.
Microfinance – To grant loans to communities in order to launch income-generating initiatives and ensure the longevity of projects.
Social arts and popular education – To raise awareness, educate and mobilize communities on water-related issues in order to promote the sound management of water.
ONE DROP’s strategy is to act in clusters of countries in order to optimize the regional impact and use of resources.

Active projects: Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, El Salvador and India.
Upcoming projects: Southeast Asia and West Africa.

I'll grant you that their copy writer should be fired, but it seems clear what they do...

Looks like Le Chiffre is in trouble again.

Are they gonna have Steps tournaments for this? It would suck to bust out after making it all the way to Step 40.

Remember the Onyx Cup? That was a good one.
10-28-2011 , 01:13 AM
So is this tournament still going to happen?
10-28-2011 , 01:14 AM
has anyone considered how this will completely make the 'all time money list' totally redundant?

Well, I guess I had just read Demichele's comment and I'm skeptical about everything these days. Yeah, mostly I think this tournament is great, I'd love to see who can play and who can get staked.

Guy Laliberte is the owner of the One Drop organization. So I guess he's behind this. Having him and the other rich fish play makes up for the 11% rake, don't you think.. I think the top pros love it when they see those 2 in the lineup

Maybe if it was 3 handed and they really were fish. 11% is awful and it's the future of the wsop... so sad because with all the tv time the wsop should be RAKE-FREE

Surely the charity aspect means nothign to the players because the charity money offsets the taxes that people would pay if they won anyway.

I would donate $1000 to charity to see this happen. Come on Viktor, do it for the orphans (or whatever this charity is for)!

@JasonMercier
If heat don't win nba championship. I prolly wont be able to play the "one drop" event. However if they do win, 5-10 other players wont play

Which fish poker pros be betting agains king James ?

I suppose rich people can get anything they want with money including a WSOP bracelet. It is a BS tournament that devalues what a bracelet stands for.

/\ whatever ones actually like winning money

Looks like Mercier won't be playing... sucks hes 1 of my faves and would prob be a huge fav against the bazillionaires

Don't understand why Mercier wouldn't look for a bunch of backers. He'll I'd invest 100 dollars in him if I could.
