This really drives home how massive Pokerstars really is. A 1/4 Million error is barely newsworthy on here.

I seem to remember playing in a $320 USACOOP in 2010 or 2011 that had ~$300K overlay on a 700K guarantee.

So how do you have a better story. You didnt have to fade nearly as many runners and you didnt get paid nearly as much. Seems like not nearly as good of a story.

I disagree. There is no reason to believe the person that binks tonight's Sunday warmup would have won if the programming error did not occur. With the huge overlay and shorter field you can argue your run good started before you even sat down. If someone told me this story it would be unique and far more interesting then winning the tournament as it normally plays out. Which happens to someone once a week, this I assume has never happened before.

One way or another...It will be us 'the players' who will ultimately pick up the tab for this balls up. They will tell you it won't be.............but it will be.

I'm only guessing here, but I'd assume pokerstars has a margin for non guarantees met in the annual budget. What that amount is, I dont know. It could be anwhere between 100k and $5million

So today they lost 260k in overlays, which will get balanced in the overdraft they'd set aside earlier in their budget, and now they'll need to focus more on ensuring other gaurantees dont come up short (in SCOOP for example) to make sure they dont exceed their yearly allowance of shortfalls

So we might see some lower guarnatees accross the board to ensure they dont blow their budget in that regard.

In comparison to what they rake in a day it isnt a whole lot, so I dont think its panic stations for them, just a bigger hit than theyre used to, but nothing they wouldnt have a 'plan' for

He is the typical guy saying when a 50$ tourney with x gtd goes to a 100$ buy in with the same gtd "Buy in is two times higher to win the same first prize"

LOL : you have to beat about half the field you should have beaten in the 50 and the win is a little bit more interesting (if number of runners in the 100 is half the numbers of runners in the 50) because the % allowed to first place is higher (because field is smaller).



If the field was as tough in a 100 than in a 10 online i would rather play smaller fields in 100 than massive fields in 10.
But that's a personal preference.
I know some people love huge fields but if it's your thing then you can't whine you outlasted 2986 people out of 3k and took about 15 buy ins when the winner took 450+ BI.

not really, nobody here is doubting that this will have a significant effect on their profit margin. Please point to the post that does . It is just mildly interesting, which is all the hype these days.
