OK. Everyone should feel free to continue to post their concerns with the guidelines. Just understand that I am not going to address any of them here until after the guidelines have been effect for a while and I can assess the impact on actual postings in the forum. Then I will gather all the input together and see what tweaks are needed. But it is not an effective use of my time to try and respond to each comment individually in a piecemeal fashion.

So pls keep your comments coming and I will consider them all at the appropriate time.

You've previously expressed your hatred of combat sports (and all sports in general)-- so I doubt there is any racial animosity in your words.

But certainly you should be aware that referring to boxers in the context of a discussion on sports as race as "animals" is going to look bad.

I read the series of posts. While I think your perception of how boxing was perceived back then is far off the mark, it is clear that your reference is to the sport itself and not blacks in particular.

Obviously I didn't say any people were animals. I did compare boxers to animals. If you want to support people who make millions by inflicting harm onto others, that's your prerogative. But then I would have to assume you're also fine with police brutality.

Personally I'm against all violence (and almost all sport).

To me the casual tossing around of "two blacks" (as opposed to black people) paired with the animal comparison is so egregious that even though one is making an awkward historical point about how it might be perceived back then I think you should have been much - much - more cautious about your language.
