Can someone explain why the Mexican government captured then realized El Chapo's son less then 24 hours later?

I see lots of videos of the Government / Guzman hechmen in shootouts, but it seems silly to capture the biggest druglord then release him back to the public..?

Unless its some stupid corruption/sham capture?

We’ve Already Seen Twice As Many Presidential TV Ads As At This Point In The 2016 Election

I'm glad I've switched to exclusively watching Perry Mason on Amazon.

It's a lot less interesting when you read the next line in the article that it's ~all Steyer. One rich, rogue actor is far less meaningful and far less likely to be repeated than a system-wide increase in ad spending.

I really just wanted to express my deep and abiding love for Perry Mason, but yeah that's a good point.

I haven't listened yet, but Rogan recently interviewed Edward Snowden. I admit I am not too familiar with the background of the story, but I do appreciate the irony that it seems the way things shake out along partisan lines; that the left is pro government surveillance and the "alt-right" is the side supporting privacy. Talk about role reversals.

What a way to spend one’s time. Joe Rogan. Beacon of enlightened thought.

No one gives a **** about the podcasts you don't listen to.

Well, open minded at the least. Not for those that live in closed worlds and hate anything or anyone that challenges the boundaries of the prisons they have erected for themselves.

All the same, I will go ahead and keep providing content, and you can go ahead making contentless posts like this, and thing will continue on as they have been.

Mentioning a podcast you haven't listened to isn't content.

I do not have a problem with someone posting to tell me that a popular podcast has an episode interviewing Snowden. This is even the LC thread. What I actually don't care about is people telling other people that they don't care. If you don't care, don't reply.

Ok, but what if I care about shitting on Joe Rogan because he legit sucks? That’s still fine, yes?

The Access Act -- a new bill aiming to regulate social media companies. I like the approach better than breaking them up, at the very least.

Quote:
I promised plain English, so let me give you an example: E-mail is an interoperable service built on open standards. Can you imagine if you were only able to email people with the same email provider? Or if you had to pay a $10/month to email outside your provider?

Back in 2001, the FCC recognized that interoperability was key to competition and required then-dominant AOL to make its instant messaging service compatible with its competitors. No surprise: it drove online competition and created space for today’s services.

By requiring interoperability for major platforms, we can give consumers greater choice over how they access online services like social media, while also preventing companies from using their APIs & terms of service as weapons to shut down potential competitors or extract rents.

(from Sen. Mark Warner's tweet storm about the bill)

Wookie’s Trolling got us off track (or maybe there was just no interest in the first place), but I do find it interesting that in this story the guy warning us of “big brother” surveillance is the bad guy. If you do just blindly accept that Snowden is the bad guy and the NSA is the good guy, something to think about, especially if you are a liberal.

If you consider yourself a law and order conservative, at least this narrative is consistent with your world view.

The entire forum is kind of his sandlot. He's not allowed outside of H&F otherwise, BOS elsewhere methinks.

If I remember right, his dying act in sports betting was repeatedly posting a Jenna Marbles youtube. His dying act in sporting events was repeatedly posting about sports betting. His dying act elsewhere was repeatedly posting about politics.

This is not a man who measures consequences well. Hence this being like his fourth account.

Actually, the truth is much less interesting than the fiction. The truth is I was originally banned like 12 years ago for being belligerent. And all the subsequent bans were pretty much just "industrious" greens going around deleting accounts of previously banned posters, which they seem to have carte blanche to do unless you have friends in high places telling them not to (which I never did). I got a 3 day ban from Sporting Events for talking about Sportsbetting and after it posted very intermittently for years (avoiding sports betting talk) on various accounts with no problem.

By any objective measure Crossnerd (and many others) has had much much much much much much much worse behavior than me, yet seemingly has an unlimited ability to come back unrestricted, because she made allies in the right places. If anything our disparate fates is an interesting sociological experiment in how (corrupt) power hierarchies work.
