Although, weird, her Wikipedia says she is in fact transgender.
She explicitly says she is transgender later in the same video several times.

Maybe because she transitioned that fits her conception of “biological female,” although probably neither of ours?

I thought "biological" was a term used to mean specifically "not transgender", but I guess I'm mistaken.

"Biological" is often used by transphobes to invalidate the gender identities of trans people. In reality, biology is so complex that we know lots of ways for both genetics and body plans to not be binary, and for ways in which at least karyotyping to not match body plan. It's certainly plausible that some sort of genomic structural variation can result in someone having an XY karyotype and to be born with a male body plan but to inherently feel like they belong as a woman in society? If that were the case, it would be a little odd to call them "biolgically" male when biology is behind being a woman also. So I tend to just refer to sex or to body plan.

It was a term she used at the beginning of her podcast to identify herself. I honestly don't know what point she was making. I would definitely be interested in hearing her explanation, as she seemed like a very thoughtful, nuanced person in the podcast I just listened to.

Anyways, I came away from that podcast with a worse opinion of left wing cancel culture then I did coming in.

I am not sure if that was what WN was going for when he recommenced the podcast, but that is what he got.

I wasn't commenting on her usage, but instead on the context of why her usage sounds funny.

then I think you got what I was going for. But yeah, duh. If I were trying to be very precise, I would probably say that I came away having my opinion that twitter sucks reinforced. Obviously twitter is bad in a lot of ways, because of many very different groups of people. I wouldn't say that "woke twitter culture" is the worst of it either. But it definitely seems to have some pretty awful aspects. And of course twitter is also really good in some ways, some of the time.

The counter-point is just about whether or not any of this is particularly important, in the larger context.

Interestingly, the "twitter economy" seems to basically function like a hyper-capitalistic laissez-faire survival of the fittest ecosystem.

Which is a little ironic when it comes to some of these progressive communities, as they are displaying the worst excesses of unfettered capitalism while ostensibly being opposed to the capitalistic ethos.

That response is a lot more charitable than I am when it comes to CRT.

Hahahaahahhahaha. Sorry, minorities, but if we try to give you equal voice and representation, it'll make the racists mad, and we just can't have that.

This is why I did not take anyone concerns about the trans person who felt less safe about a colleague signing a letter about freedom of expression, including the person herself. She was worried about a letter, Weiss was worried about an actual toxic work environment. It was a matter of time before the left put egg on their face.

Let's throw together another group of white dudes to tell us all about how racism doesn't exist

Well, I got told to stop, and ostracized on the basis of having mental issues the last time I repeatedly acknowledged the existence of racism....

You all don't get what occurred to Bari Weiss happens here, every day. I'm not a coward though, I'll fight back. It's a toxiccult. It's not just righties or white people who see this.
