Images from Gaza circulating on social media Thursday showed a mass detention by the Israeli military of men who were made to strip to their underwear, kneel on the street, wear blindfolds, and pack into the cargo bed of a military vehicle.

The exact circumstances and dates of the detentions are unclear, but some of the detainees’ identities were confirmed by colleagues or family members.

At least some of the men are civilians with no known affiliation to militant groups, according to a conversation CNN had with one of their relatives and a statement by one of their employers, a news network.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor posted an image of one detainment and said in a statement on its website Thursday that “the Israeli army detained and severely abused dozens of Palestinian civilians.”

“Euro-Med Monitor received reports that Israeli forces launched random and arbitrary arrest campaigns against displaced people, including doctors, academics, journalists, and elderly men,” it said.

The Israel Defense Forces has not responded to CNN’s request for comment on the images. CNN has geo-located some of the images to Beit Lahia, north of Gaza City.

The Israeli media, without indicating a source, has portrayed the images as the surrender of Hamas members. A journalist asked IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari about the images during a news conference on Thursday, saying, “We’ve seen images of many captives, Hamas terrorists, that the IDF arrested during the ground maneuvering.”

this is the man they assassinated. this is the man that mets hates and is no doubt jubilant about knowing is dead. I would imagine that mets and grizy are sad that they didnt get his kids, only his sisters kids. a consolation and they know that IDF will get the rest of the family soon enough and then the Zionists who are somehow allowed to teach USA minority youth will become fully engorged.

Seems like now would be a great time for the Palestinians to put down their arms, stop shooting rockets into Israel, give back the hostages, and make a permanent peace forsaking any claims on Israel proper.

If they do this and Israel keeps attacking, this would be completely unacceptable IMO.

Maybe most have seen it already but yesterday Reuters published a detailed account of the killing of one of their journalists by an Israeli tank.

There were long lines for Israeli work permits.

The Israelis and the Palestinians want better lives for themselves.

Hamas and its ilk do not.

Israel is like Sparta. I think someone smarter than me came up with that comparison but I cant remember and I doubt I am that clever.

An ethnofascist military state with a captive population where its periodically necessary to kill the best and brightest to keep them under heel. Neither states create anything of value of substance and only exist to wage war.

but look at the effort that is made to point out the obv

whereas Israeli fascist supremacists can just spew all kinds of bullshit and everyone just eats it up without any investigation or fact checking.

Apparently this is not an option, for some reason. Israel must stop and accept that Hamas will keep trying to fight them.

It’s an idiotic non-solution. What diplomatic leverage does the US have over Hamas? None. On the other hand, one call from Biden and the bombs stop dropping on kids.

And you yourself said Israel probably could have avoided Oct 7. Why aren’t you also suggesting that Israel flatten Lebanon or Iran?

So Israel should give up on getting the hostages back?

I honestly do not believe the United States has this kind of leverage. I am not sure why people think that leverage exists. Israel would not suffer greatly if we dropped our support tomorrow.

I am saying Hamas should surrender because they lost the war. They have nothing to fight for. They are simply getting their people killed over nothing.

I don't know why I would suggest they flattened Lebanon or iran.

I do too

I assume no women. Or if any women they will be killed before being released because of what was done to them

If there were more women and children to give i think hamas would have given. They started offering corpses instead of women. That tells you what you need to know

I think many of the male hostages are alive. Israel once gave 1000 prisoners for 1 male hostage so hamas likely thinks they have too much value to kill

Some I'm sure are just casualties of the war

Still

Israel is obligated to continue the war until every hostage us returned and or accounted for at minimum

You disagree?
