Theoretically keeping everyone in their homes and getting amazon drone deliveries to keep people alive would work well.

A surprisingly effective measure that limits spread is nuking cities wherever coronavirus is detected.

if you completely 100% locked down your borders, not 1 soul in-not 1 soul out, and tanked your economy back to the dark ages BEFORE this thing spread, then yes. you would have prevented the spread through border closings.

is that acquiescence good enough? can we get back to discussing real life now?

Its actually silly to expect bans to be absolutely perfect and stop all spread.

The point is to flatten the curve of new infections so as to spread burden on health systems in more sustainable way.

X people being infected in 2 months is much worse than X in 4 months.

Probably because border issues have become so politicised.

In Europe not so much, its a common POV that there should have been more aggressive travel bannage at an earlier point.

Italy introduced internal travel banns, the consensus seems to be they should have done it sooner.

it helps that they have no freedoms in CHINA and are a complete authoritarian state so that when they force people to stay inside, they kinda have to.

CHina is going to have the easiest path with this thing when all said and done potentially.
