No, he's saying there was probably a Holocaust. But since he wasn't there, he can't be certain, so he has to say "probably". What does probably mean to him - 99.99%, 98%, 60%? Who knows.

Most people know that anything they didn't witness themselves they can't be absolutely, positively, 100% certain happened, but we also know that we don't need to dance around a lot of things with "it probably happened" when there's enough evidence to have us 99.999% certain of it. Lucky's clever skepticism really isn't all that clever. To be clear, I don't know that he's ever called it clever, but I'd guess he thinks it is.

I mean if someone went up to you and was like "say that the Armenian genocide happened" and you knew nothing about it but spent a few minutes reading the wiki article and was like "yeah it looks like it did" and they were like "no that's not good enough, you have to say it happened with 100% certainty" you would be forced to consider them insane zealots.

I'm sure if I spent like 30 minutes of research I could get it up to 99.9 but right now all I've got is having watched Schindler's List and stuff about Wazz's grandfather. And I get that that is good enough for most people but I take the stuff that I consider 100% a bit more seriously than most.

Also even if you are going to think that assuming is stronger, not at all sure why you wouldn't think that I wouldn't have a pretty strong basis for thinking that my mom is my mom vs say.... having watched Schindler's List a couple times.

If it was final Jeopardy and the holocaust was the category I definitely wouldn't be going crazy with my wager. And I'm sure there is a bit more to it than that but Schindler's List definitely forms the bulk of my conceptions. I doubt I'm the only one here like that.
