Trump would rather be a kingmaker in 2024 than king. He can get everyone to come to Mar a lago to kiss his ring. He can still tweet and call into the shows. He can do MAGA rallies. What he won't have to do? Actual governing (which he hated) and he won't be able to lose, since he won't be running.

My contract runs out mid next year, and I've been trying to work out how I'm going to sustain my lifestyle of sitting on my ass at home all day and coining it in, since I am allergic to actual work.

I'm thinking some sort of web site for fighting the good fight on behalf of King Donnie against BidenCrimeFamily and the evil commies/BLM/antifa. Could probably get someone to write some decent copy for a couple of grand (I'm thinking the guys who write copy for the fake guru sites), another few grand for SEO, a bit for image rights etc. Could prob get the whole thing going for ~10k and grift the dumbasses out of ~500k/year easy in my sleep.

Ok - some additional expenses - a few struggling actors to run a youtube channel with "updates". Call it 20-40k/year to keep the updates coming and the scam going. All in all the ROI could be enormous.

Either a prison sentence or debilitating stroke seems far more likely than a viable run in 4 years. I certainly hope for the sake of the two party system that the Republicans have moved on by then.

Trump isn't going to prison. But he also has little hope of being the GOP nominee in 2024. By 2024, he will be older than Biden is now. Who knows if he will even by up to the task physically?

And even if he is up to the task, he is very unlikely to be viable. For the last four years, for obvious reasons, every word and tweet from Trump has been newsworthy. That won't last. Like Sarah Palin, he will retain the ability to whip up the masses in very MAGA areas. In certain states and districts, he may be able to influence outcomes. But that will be the extent of his influence.

I also would expect to see a much more organized effort by establishment Republicans to prevent him from getting the nomination. I am not crediting establishment Republicans with any sort of moral backbone, but from a purely practical perspective, they are likely to see someone like Nikki Haley as a much more viable candidate.

Establishment Republicans obviously tried to block Trump's nomination in 2016, but that effort began in earnest only after Trump had gained a lot of momentum. For a long time, establishment Republicans simply assumed that Trump was no threat.

If I received decent odds, I would be willing to bet that Trump does not speak at the RNC in 2024.
