It seems democrats are not getting enough money in the bill, and are resolved to not do any deal unless they do.

The issue is, Republicans don't have enough support for the size and scope of the bill they passed so need the Democrat votes, and Democrats want more money, which will lose more Republican votes. It seems rather bold for Pelosi to hold out here, and claim it's the Republicans holding up action. It's really about the amount of money in the bill, rather than where it goes, as both sides seem to be on the same page, generally, as far as who should get the money.

I don't really get the politics from the Democrats on this. How do they win by holding out for more money, while the people they trying to help get nothing?
@MrWookie

Maybe you forgot the OP, or maybe you still think Pelosi is still negotiating. She got nothing by holding out for more.

R's were offering $400/wk for the unemployed and another $1200 stim check and Pelosi wanted more for city governments, so she said no deal. Trump offered a straight $1200 stim check, Pelosi said no deal. You all called that negotiating. Now we are left with zero. Pelosi could have got something.

It may be the faultiest logic circuit on this entire forum. It is dumb AND wrong.

What the White House wants is meaningless, trump will sign, ultimately whatever congress presents him.

The democrats patiently wait with their exhaustive and comprehensive proposal that they passed in the house. The republicans, who control the senate, have provided literally nothing. But again it is the fault of Pelosi.

LOL HIV.

Good job republicans!
IHIV.... did you have a job at the start of the year? Or have you been chronically unemployed for a while?

I was employed at the start of the year. Also, it does not matter what the House passed if it can't pass the Senate. You can trumpet that house bill, but it was DOA. Even moderate Democrats were calling that a message bill, or wish casting.

Why do you all spin it like this?

Pelosi wanted more than R's were willing to give. That created an opening to negotiate with D's while attracting more moderate R's in order to get a deal passed in the Senate. However, Pelosi wanted more than even moderate R's were willing to spend, which killed any deal.

And let's not pretend Pelosi did this out of interest to the people. She did this to paint the Republicans politically. I said it before, blame Republicans for not getting the city money....or not getting the best deal, but don't let people like me sit in the wind while you play politics, which is what Pelosi did. It can't be denied she could have got a bill past the Senate and signed by Trump that helped some people, but she held out.

I have some data analytics on my resume now (on top of my MI background), and Vegas don't have too many of those type of jobs. I'm also not going to live in a city that devotes tax dollars to football stadiums when they have a really bad education system.

Incoming strawman alert!!!!

How do you characterize the SC stall effort in 2016 and now the ramming through of Barrett?

Seems political to me.....which is what you are crying about with your Imma-lazy-guy-gimme-money routine.

If I was lazy, I would not have 30K in savings (considering the wages I earned).

Mnuchin and Pelosi could come up with a deal. But McConnel wouldn't put it up for a Senate vote because all dems would support it and many republicans wouldn't.

HIV’S position on this remains steadfastly absurd.

The republicans in congress still have proposed NOTHING.

For all we know the democrats would snap accept any proposal the republicans put forward. But we will never know.

So if the democrats fail to get the senate the amount of 1.8 billion is never happening .

Lets hope Nancy bet the right way

The amount of the stimulus with Pres. Biden and a Republican Senate will be $0, and ihiv will be in here still insisting it's all the Dems' fault.

When did the senate vote/debate on the bill ?

Sitting in the wind is a choice. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop complaining that the government is acting the way people you vote for would be expected to act. WTF ?

Expecting millions of people in cities and entire state budgets to take a hit for you is lol though. Pelosi was a terrible negotiator (or just corrupt) the first time. She's not going to give in again. The problem with the GOP is, they never negotiate in good faith. So it is what it is. If you vote for them then thank yourself.

I think it's pretty fair to blame both Mitch McConnell and Pelosi for nothing happening. If it were up to Trump he probably would have cut 10k checks to everyone as long as you spent 80% of it on stocks.
