With that caveat, I wonder if Bernie dying suddenly of a heart attack in a week or two would increase the chances of a progressive (defined for the purpose of this point as Bernie or Warren) winning the Democratic nomination. Put another way, do Warren and Bernie have less combined equity (assuming Bernie's health holds) than Warren would have on her own if Bernie died suddenly.

I don't know, but I think it's possible. Bernie supporters presumably would have nowhere else to go but Warren. Warren would be able to make good use of "honor his legacy" as a rallying cry. And I think Biden, Buttigieg, etc. would feel pretty obligated to fete Bernie for a while and avoid criticizing his ideas as impractical.
