It of course isn't devalued by default. But it is equally true that the speaker's intent isn't dispositive on the question of devaluation.

Agreed, and I never argued that. My only point is that devaluation is subjective. If your original post was more on the line of know your audience, I wouldn't have said anything. PETA's comparison to the holocaust makes enough sense to me that I don't think it's offensive but I don't expect it to resonate with very many people. I would consider the comparison a poor rhetorical device if the goal is to get the most people possible to think about what they eat.

Just as an FYI, Dahmer died in the mid-1990s.

Dang, I'm only up to episode 2 of the Netflix Dahmer show and Rocco spoilered it for me.

I was hoping they'd make a movie about Dahmer's life and call it, Honey, I Ate the Kids!

Comedy = Tragedy + Time

WaPO has an update on the Venezuelan migrants
Four months later, nearly everyone in the group is still in Massachusetts. Many are in small cities near Boston, and others remain on Cape Cod. Five have returned to Martha’s Vineyard with the help of residents.
Pretty surprisingly that they're all still in Massachusetts.

I sure hope DeSantis gets charged (and convicted) of violation of the Florida constitution for this ridiculous stunt.

It's just hilarious that he wanted to make a point, but he couldn't even round up enough immigrants in Florida to fill up a plane so he had to go to Texas to find some. I can't see how he is not a laughing stock for that, and how there is not more outrage in Florida for state money being used to fly people from Texas to Massachusetts.
