Agreed, and I never argued that. My only point is that devaluation is subjective. If your original post was more on the line of know your audience, I wouldn't have said anything. PETA's comparison to the holocaust makes enough sense to me that I don't think it's offensive but I don't expect it to resonate with very many people. I would consider the comparison a poor rhetorical device if the goal is to get the most people possible to think about what they eat.
