All very helpful answers. I think no is perhaps the most helpful one so far though.

Steps are now a generic system, so Steps 1 thru 5 are playable at any time. Step 6 is dedicated to particular event (live / WCOOP).

If the exact date is relevant to you 5 months in advance, email support. If not, a fair guess would be around March / April time.

Helpful enough?

well much more helfpul. I understand the generic part of it, I'm just playing for the 10k cash so I was wondering when I might have that opportunity with my step 6's. Thanks for a real post though rhino.

are there any other step 6's that can be converted to cash when you win a package?

They have the PCA step 6 running right now. So if you take 1st in that particular step 6 i believe Poker Stars will credit your account with $18,000 or $19,000 and it's up to you whether or not you want to play in the event with that money. And if you were to win another step 6, you'd get the money in the form of T$ dollars. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

In general, if you win a seat to a live event such as the PCA at PokerStars, you must play the first seat that you win. Your first seat is not refundable or transferable. This of course applies to Step 6 tournaments as well as any other satellite.

If you win a second seat to a special event, you'll get W$ to the value of the seat.

WSOP 2009 satellites are a long way off and we don't have dates yet. There may be a similar 'must play' requirement (although in the last two years there hasn't been due to Harrah's policy on third-party registrations).

Thanks Alex Scott for clearing that up. I was under the impression that all tourney packages worked out like the WSOP deal.
