So, I want to withdraw from FT via LBT. I have my IBAN #, however my bank does not provide Swift #s, only BIC #s. If I put the BIC # in the Swift field, is it going to work?

I seriously doubt that your bank is not connected to the swift network

what bank is it?

in any event, I suggest you call your bank and talk to their international department before asking for your wire.

My bank doesn't have swift either, just leave swift blank or put n/a, and give them the routing number, it will work.

For what is worth, over 8000 banks are linked using the SWIFT network. A routing number (also known as ABA number) is only used for transfers inside the US.

If your wire works without the SWIFT is because the entity/bank initiating the transfer looks up what SWIFT code belongs to the receiver bank.

If the transfer is done entirely inside the US (or Europe) then a SWIFT is not necessary but it doesn't mean that the bank itself is not hooked up to the SWIFT network

since the OP is mentioning IBAC and BIC, I imagine that he is based in Europe, all European banks I've dealt with have SWIFT codes (SWIFT itself is based in Belgium), but to be sure the only way is to contact FT and ask them for clarification, perhaps they issue European wires via an Euro account..which would then not need a SWIFT code at all

additional info

as per this link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9362) it seems that BIC's are another name for SWIFT (or at least something extremely similar)

My bank's FAQ states that it no longer gives out Swifts but gives out BICs instead. It's a large, well-known European bank. I have contacted FT and they say that BICs are often used in place of Swifts and that that this number should work in place of the Swift. I'll contact my bank via phone tomorrow to confirm, but it seems like this will be fine.

Thanks for the replies.

if not, i do recall that when I sent FTP my bank info I believe I didn't have to give them swift # since I was in U.S... could be wrong.

my bank said they had neither a SWIFT nor BIC code, and to just give the other party the routing number, and the fact that it was known to be a US bank would get it into the US system properly. That was actually correct.
