NLHE sucks unless your playing MTT's. The NLHE cash games are still beatable but winrates are crappy unless you devote your life to grinding.

and a few years (months?) ago NLHE was the bomb and many quoted their abnormally high winrate and just by opening up a poker table was like printing money.

Now, some of the novice players have learned how to play and the winrates for others are not as high as they once were.

Of course, before NLHE, there was limit hold em...and many wrote the same thing then.

Steam, low VPIPs can be exploited also. Just steal their blinds until they catch on and I would wager they wouldn't (especially if they are multitabling).

I just keep changing tables until I find some donkeys, I am 3.21/100 over the last 10.5 \k hands but I am running good.

I just started trying to figure out why certain players were playing this low. I figured someone here would have a good expalination.

There could be ton of reasons why. Thier bankrolls are not enough to move up. Many players keep reduced BR since the whole internet gaming act. So everytime they build up some cash they take a withdraw.

Some don't like the big swings of larger money. They play just for fun and don't care about FPP's

Some are from places where even these small stakes provide a nice income. Five dollars a day is good money in some places.

When I am playing a lot live, i play very low stakes, as often it better matches what I am seeing live, and online is no more than practice. ( I think this may play a big part, many live player play online just to get in hands and practice to stay sharp.)

Many people i talk to live do not trust online poker, but don't mind playing at the lower limits where they feel it is less likely they will be cheated.

Just a few reasons I am sure there are many more. Maybe their spouse does not mind them playing this low but get upset when they play higher. Maybe they do fine when swings are small enough but it ruins their life when they have large swings. Tilt is not just a table thing. Some players let big losses and bad beats effect their outside life.

Just a few, I am sure there are more.

Man you weren't kidding. I was fooling around with .1/.2 limit and $2 / $5 HULU sngs. There are a ridiculous number of rocks in these games. A lot of them appear to be regulars making like $2 an hour. Kinda scary
None of those old poops are beginners, in my world beginners are too loose.

I was replying to the the post I quoted where I was told that is is reasonable to assume a really tight player is a beginner.

When I see someone with a VPIP in the low teens or single digits, I don't immediately assume they are a beginner. When I see one with a VPIP greater than 50, I assume they are clueless or crazy until I see them play enough hands to confirm or disprove my assumption.
im new on these forums
would it be possible for somebody to explain what VPIP means please?

Voluntarily Put $ In Pot - A VPIP of 10 would mean you play ten percent of your hands.

22k hands later, I can answer my own question.

A Drunken Monkey can beat .25 limit holdem on Stars but at 50 cent poker, you have to begin to play poker.
