Watching the Sunday Million right now. I see a carefully thought out raise of 322,715 chips, or 3.22715 x the big blind. I see stuff like this in high stakes cash games too. What is the psychology behind it?

Vary it up, some fun numbers are 777, 666, 1234, 69, 1337 <-fav, 80085

so yes. its out of sheer boredom.

I always bet weird amounts in a tournament. I like to raise slightly less then 3bb, so if the blinds are 100/200, I might open raise to 544 or 563, basically some random amount around 2.7 or 2.8x the BB. Then post flop you might as continue with weird bet sizes on each street.

I think when you bet a stupid amount more players remember that you did it and they think your a puke so they might come after you. At least thats what the idiots say in my home game, they get so pissed if you bet 30,000 when they only have 4000 left, betting the weird amounts has the same effect on them.
