Last night, I finally took the plunge and joined CLUBWPT at a $24.95 monthly subscription, for the sole purpose of playing in their satellites to Big tournaments on the WPT Tour. After joining, I was directed to a page, that listed the amount of chips I could buy for various amounts of money. I thought that they were letting me know I needed those chips in order to play in their tournaments, so I spent $50 for 10,000,000 chips. Then I went to the poker lobby , so I could register for the 8:45pm satellite to the Bay101 WPT Tour Event. As soon as I clicked the button to enter the tournament, a box popped up, notifying me that I lived in an area that couldn't enter that satellite tourenament. I immediately went to the "LIVE support and asked why I was being prevented from entering. A lady responded by asking where I lived(state), and I said Florida. She immediately replied that I couldn't enter any of the WPT satellites, because the state of Florida had passed a law awhile ago, that prohibits their citizens from winning a SEAT IN A TOURNAMENT ON THE INTERNET. I was shocked and told her that was the only reason I joined, and she replied not to worry, I could strill play at the play money tables and read their magazine and watch reruns of their TV series. I told them, that they should have been upfront about that restriction before I bothered to join, and now I want my money back and to cancel my subscription. She came back awhile later to tell me that they never charged my card for the subscription and they had cancelled my subscription. I told her that they had better refund my $50 for the chips I purchased. She refused to do that, even though I was mislead about the whole purchase of chips. She told me those chips are for the 'play' money tables, which I never would have purchased had I known they weren't for the "REAL" money tables. She refused once again, saying I needed to read the rules and guidelines. What a friggin' ripoff! Don't get mislead and get ripped off by those people. I was very surprised that I would be unfairly treated like that. I wonder what Mike and Vince would say about this, if they knew what was going on?

that's a really big paragraph so cant really understand it all but I hope this all works out for you and you get back whatever money you are due.
01-11-2014 , 02:19 AM
Mike and Vince don't care, they made $74.95 out of you
01-11-2014 , 02:20 AM
summary: florida residents can't enter WPT satelites, TPR asks for refund (since he joined solely to play WPT satelites) gets declined, with no refund and subscription is cancelled.

Also, I do believe Mike and Vince are just solely in the WPT as TV hosts who advertise club WPT and cover the final tables, but actually have no say or knowledge of what actually goes on when it comes to the money for club WPT. Good luck OP. I would call back and see if you can talk to a manager or someone higher up.

Wait why did you buy all the play chips, you don't need those for the real money tables...

i think he thought they were for buying into the play money satellites to win into the big tourneys?
01-11-2014 , 02:31 AM
that sucks, but is it really their fault u signed up for something that's illegal in your state?

to me it's more like you made a mistake and asked for a good faith refund (which personally i think they should give you).

actually a misleading and deceitful thread title.

I never was an English Major, but I always thought that one should only change to new paragraphs, if you change to a different thought or subject. Thanks, for your good wishes, although I don't believe they care about me at all.

I can't see how it was a mistake by me, as they never informed me in their advertising or any notices on the site about the laws preventing certain people from entering. If they had made it apparent and I still joined, knowing that, then it would be my fault, but that wasn't the case.

It can be a mistake by you and still be shady practices on their part at the same time anyway.

The reason I mistakenly bought those chips, not knowing they were for "PLAY money tables, is because they directred me to that chip buying page, and they never differentiated between what the chips were needed for. I only found that out after they had my money.

The same thing would have happened even if it was legal in his state. The play money chips are not used for satellites, which is what he wasted his money on.

So many people post without really reading what TC wrote, it's like why post if you're not going to understand what the guy was saying I realize it's a block of text but ok fine just go on to the next topic.

TC was "refunded" (they claim to have yet to charge his card) his monthly subscription money. However he then spent an additional 50 dollars on play money chips which he claimed he thought he needed to buy in to the tournaments. (I don't think you even have to be a subscribed member to buy those chips) He did not need them for tournaments and since he bought them without even knowing this or doing the least bit of research of what these chips were for, I am fine with him not being refunded that money.

However since a big "draw" of this club wpt site is that it can get you sattied into real wpt events, they should for sure ask you what state you live in when signing up and either not accept people from states with these restrictions or at least give them a massive popup/warning when registering that they WILL NOT be allowed to win live tourney seats.

In summary TC and Club wpt both suck.

Maybe Vince Van Patten will sign a tennis racket for you.

Exactly! Had they not failed to put a full disclosure notice as to who can and cannot play in the satellites, and clearly identified what the chips are available for and why, on the page they directed me to, then it would have been clear and fair

I'm afraid that I would still be in the hole, Even though I met Vince on a poker cruise to Mexico about 9 years ago and he was very friendly.

Who is TC? I can only assume that you read the text in its entirety, but failed to recognize my username as being TPR. No big deal. If you had been with me, when I was registering, I'm sure you would've been confused, also, but we will never know, since you didn't experience what I did. The reason that I came on this site and made this post, was to help others, in the future, to avoid the mistake I made, so they don't have to go through what I've going through.

Whether you deserve the refund or not, I wouldn't give up after one front line customer service exchange if I were you.
01-11-2014 , 03:22 AM
Sounds like the OP lost at least one dime.

Good luck, sir, although I don't like your chances when it comes to the purchase of play chips.

You can find this page by clicking here, here or here.

This site has more asterisk than a Barry Bonds record yet you didn't bother to check why they were there.
