Hey CC

The network (or room if independent) wont punish the player in any capacity as the player provides them with the yachts, fast cars and 22 year old girlfriends.

They will just punish the room itself and affiliate most likely also.
And yes you will probably lose the deal too.

Best wishes

Hi capo-crimini121,

The only problem with under the table deals on certain networks is that they tend to be offered on the smaller and typically less reliable rooms.

As a consequence of a room offering under the table deals they can be kicked off the network and this usually leaves players in a bit of an awkward position. In certain cases players also lose their rakeback payments.

Examples of this include; Potraiser, AlfaPoker, PurpleLounge and Eurolinx.

So while they can sometimes be quite a positive thing, you should definitely shop around and do your research.

Hope this helps,

Jamie

And you can even lose your bankroll, as happened at the aforementioned Eurolinx as well as all the Tusk skins on Microgaming.

I'm too tempted not to point this out - You don't need a network to get all that if you have a lot of money.

Play high stakes poker and hope you suck out a lot.

Or just be smart, start a innovative business and make lots of money.

A particular room may offer a deal to certain affiliates but it will still be against the network rules. If the network finds out they can order the room to stop it or face penalties that would cost them a lot of money, including possibly being kicked off the network which has happened to several rooms (Purple lounge from microgaming recently).

It is also possible that an affiliate can give players an under the table deal that the poker room itself does not know about. If an affiliate gets a 30% rev share for example they could give players 25% extra. This extra payment would be against the rules if they don't allow rakeback but is hard to police for the poker room because it will likely be paid via a different method than on the poker site.
