As some of you might know, Joe "floes" Serock's AIM got hacked. I sent $3,150 to "Joe's horse's" account on UB, and only find out that it wasn't Joe 5 days later, because he was playing WPT Indiana and I didn't want to bother him. I say GG to the 3k and call UB to find out the name of the account I sent to (I didn't expect to get any money back from UB because it's obviously not their fault that someone's AIM got hacked and that someone else was stupid enough to send to an unknown account, but felt my 3k would be very well spent if
somehow I can make the hacker's life miserable). I spoke to George, head of UB security, who was very understanding and helpful, assuring me that they're on it and that there's a chance I might be able to get some money back. Exactly one business day later George informs me that they were able to recover the money, and 30 minutes later I was very pleasantly surprised and extremely happy to find the full amount transferred back to my account! I would just like to say thank you to George and to Ultimate Bet!

maybe UB are trying really hard to win customers over. I'm sure this incident will be a good example and very suprised you got your money back. FTP would just send the "nah sorry brah money's gone " template message.

Wait, how did you get your money back? Wouldn't the scammer spend/gamble the money away immediately? I just don't understand why the person doing the scam would let the money just sit there for a few days and not touch it. Please help me try to understand this, or tell me what I am missing.

OP, did they say anything how they recovered the money? Have they been able to freeze the money right in time? (did the hacker try to cash it out?) or did they pay that out of their pocket? (after the hacker dumped it?)

Like I said, I didn't expect to get the money back since I figured it was long gone. I'm assuming when the hacker tried to cash it out, UB asked him to verify his account and froze it meanwhile.

I received it as a transfer from the account I sent to 30 min after I spoke to George, so it looks like UB confiscated the funds as opposed to paying out of pocket.

Funny thing is I got warned about hacking just a few days prior by Chad, but chose to ignore it. Before you do swaps on AIM, make sure you verify by talking to the person on the phone!

just going through a hacking experience of my own, so I feel you on this. it was such a releif to find out moneybookers caught the guy before he widthdrew anything out and froze the account. could have been a lot worse for me, glad you sorted it out as well.

UBs always had amazing support fwiw. if it werent for the SCANDAL!!!! and the merge it would probably still be the best site
