Next event is Manchester less than 15 miles from me, before trying to qualify I thought I would just check that the hotel expenses could be recovered in cash, as this seems to account for about $800 of each $2100 ticket, and obviously I wouldn't be requiring this.

Of course they say it isn't as all accomodation is pre-booked.

Now, as direct buy-ins at the venue are permitted, and Stars have no idea how many will sat into the event, how can the accomodation be pre-booked? They can have reserved places of course, but that doesn't mean thery will fill all the rooms they reserved, so what is the issue?

Anyone else think this is poor? It's not like Britain is a big place, I'm sure at a lot of events there will be many thinking the same way?

Agree with the above. Was intending to play some sats, but I too only live about 30 mins drive away, losing nearly half the package to hotel fee's I won't use is pointless.

Now if they are prepared to refund hotel expenses, that's a different matter.

I imagine as the G is right next to the Hilton (the skyscraper one) it will be there.

Even more of a joke then, as Queen rooms for 10th-15th (with the event being 11th-14th) are £96 a night direct from the Hilton website.

So, $700 for hotel at today's rate gives £432. So there's a small profit for Stars, but if they've block booked it, and UKIPT support says they have, they will have paid much less than £96 per night.

5 nights? okay maybe, but I imagine most would just take four, unless from outside the UK. Thing is this is only really an issue for UK players, hotel and expenses is perfectly reasonable for others, but there is no allowance for locals of which there will be plenty at each event.

just give us seat only sats then evryone is happy.

Sats on Stars are $2100 package. $500 expenses, £550 tourney buy-in. The rest c$700 goes to pay for hotel. Many UK players won't want or need the hotel. Stars says hotel is compulsory.
