Should a UK citizen switch from Stars to a UK/Euro site? Should a UK citizen switch from Stars to a UK/Euro site?

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but here goes. I hope I can get an answer from a person who knows what a UK player should do with his money.

So I have a certain amount of money on Pokerstars that is in $ currency. I deposited $10 into Pokerstars and have built it up to ~$250 at the moment (I actually put about £5 so they gave me $10).

I was wondering what I should do, being somebody who lives in England, what I should do with this money? Should I carry on playing on Pokerstars in American currency even though their currency may go bad and that means I won't be able to cash out much in UK £ Sterling (I'm not an expert sorry), or should I cash it out now while I can get 2 US$ for the pound, and put it into an English site or a European site, so that the money is in pounds?

Thanks for the advice you Brits, and of course Americans who know what should be done.

Cheers.

A couple of points. Without trying to sound condescending $250 is not an amount of money to worry about fx rates on.

Secondly the $ is currently at a low against the £. I am not going to predict whether the rate wll be better or not in the future but 3 or so years ago the rate was $1.50 to £1 so if anything you are better off leaving your money in $ until you need it.

Other things to bear in mind.

Most games across UK/Euro sites are in $ and the ones that aren't have horrid rake particularly at the stakes you will play.

If you convert to £ you still will play in $ games and then your $ bankroll is now at the mercy of the fx rate as well as your play/variance.

Just go where the games are softest. No point trying to predict future currency exchange rates.

I would recommend looking at the rake structure wherever you go. There have been a lot of posts about sites capping the rake at $3 or 3 pounds (effectively double) depending on what currency you are playing in. I am american so I have no first hand knowledge of this.

FWIW, Pokerstars is an Euro site - it's domiciled in the Isle of Man.

I've never understood why euros play on stars or tilt...I'd pay money to be able to play on party (p.s. I know it's possible, but too big of a headache imo)

Party games are nowhere near as soft as you remember them. The poker boom ended everywhere, not just the U.S.
