Is this a scam? Is this a scam?

So this might just be me being overly cautious, but it's really weird and has never happened to me before, so I'm a little bit confused.

I logged into my Pokerstars Client and a pop-up came up saying that there was an issue with my email address linked to my account as their email had bounced back. It gave me options to enter a new email address or select 'this is my email address, send validation code.'

I clicked the 'this is my email address' option without thinking and then thought 'why would my email address that I've always used be an issue' and also realised I wasn't waiting on any emails from Pokerstars.

I receive an email that has a validation code in it, but my email flags it as a potential phishing attempt. Other than this it looks like a standard Pokerstars email signed by Daniel Negreanu, etc.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone before. It seems reasonably legit to me as it popped up in my client, but I don't understand why my email would suddenly stop working and what email they were trying to send that bounced back.

Thanks

Pop up message in the client itself is standard.
They did this to me many times, years ago.

Dunno about the actual e-mail in question, but if I have to guess it's not a coincidence.

Sorry for never wrapping this up. I forwarded the email through to Stars and they confirmed it was a result of some of their automated marketing emails bouncing back.
