what do you think is the best game to play with a laptop and some small disconnections because of wireless connection? (I'll be in a dorm so no chance of upgrades)

Why would anyone play with real money with the chance of losing connection?

I play on the road a lot, and run into the occasional crappy connection. It's rarer and rarer that it presents a problem that actually costs me money. Most disconnections due to poor wireless are short enough in duration that it's just annoying rather than costly.

I've never heard of anyone having a connection that has a 0% chance of dropping out at all times. So you are essentially saying that nobody should ever play for real money. Interesting argument.

the connection is not terrible btw. I'm just expecting small disconnections which could be costly at the late stages of 12-tabling sng sets.

Great, besides reading your opponents and the board you got to read the weather too. you guys should create your own forum 'I decided to go all-in because I thought there was a 25% chance of rain'

I play on a wireless laptop and have been for years. I do not have any fewer disconnects via wireless than any other connection.

I do take some precautions. I have a backup power supply (APC) on my wireless modem and on my cable modem. If power goes out in my area during thunderstorm (happens) my cable modem, router and laptop running on battery doesn't miss a beat.

I have played zillion S&G's at coffee shops on their free wireless connections and ran into problems once when so many customers were online at a popular coffee shop in Nashville their router's connection limits (usually 50 users max) were getting reached and users were getting thrown off, but then reconnected. Ironically I was playing 3 $10 double-ups at the time and although I was having a heart attack I managed to finish and win all three.

I don't sweat it. I like going to the can anytime I want, fixing a sandwich in a long MMT, whatever. Be heartbreaking to lose a big one over wireless, but I have never had that happen.

If I was playing HUGE stakes maybe I would sweat it more, but I have more than one laptop and if I am concerned about connections I just keep another one online ready to log in to PS or FT.

play the game you lose most at. If you connection cuts out, you save money. Simples.

Depends on how much money you have. If I were you I would consider getting a Wifi Internet access card. I have had one for a while now and it serves as a great backup when needed. Never had a problem with it. But it is expensive monthly.

If you have a palm smartphone you can connect it to the internet and use it as a modem.
I have a treo750 im sure other phones may have this option and it just uses your phones 3g internet but I wouldn't reccomend doing this unless your plan has unlimited data.
