Regarding Sdid, et al.

I've reached a dead end. The few leads I had petered out.

His Carbon and RPM names reminded me of someone from 2008. If Sdid is the same guy, he's a known hacker/scammer who was in cahoots with Matthew Matsch back then. He's been about a micron away from shady dealings since, but seems to be on the right track. On the other hand what little I could discover couldn't eliminate him.

Any new info would be precious. If I can make a solid connection, law enforcement could become very interesred, as they already know about him.

I don't want to 'out' him yet, as I could be dead wrong, and would hate to bring unwarranted attention to someone who appears to be getting his life back on the right track.

So if anyone has anything that hasn't been posted or PM'd to me, please let me know.

My head is swimming with the 750 posts I've read and re-read. I could be confused with all the other goings-on, but there are a couple of them that think I remember being connected to him. I just can't find them right now.

I'll keep looking, but if any of you find them before I do, please PM the link to me.

A post in which he claims to be the spotter in a world record weightlifting video.

A transaction in the Marketplace (I think), where he didn't pay for a phone (I think) claiming non-receipt. There was some snafu over the shipping address (a college/university in NYC), that was eventually sorted out.

I am new to posting on the forum. I am looking to cashout upwards of $5k from Cake. I have heard their payouts are pretty slow. What options do I have? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks
You can trade cake funds for bank transfers/wires or gift cards like GDMP, netspend, and amazon. Vig for cake is pretty steep because of the cashout times.

Good job Carbon stepping it up and refunding the victims.

I got some back too.

but I still dont get it, what he was thinking? He cant transfer funds, he wasnt playing/ joyriding... What was the purpose of criminal activity, because he even might get caught by police for Credit card fraud.

And I really hope they will

I believe I got some back but it's hard to tell how much since I'm multi-tabling and auto-rebuy is enabled.

Is there a place to check? It's not showing up in my transaction history.

BTW, thanks Carbon for doing the right thing.

If his account was verified he could have tried to trade carbon for a bank transfer.

There are a zillion studies and theories of the criminal mind. I'll posit that most of them would agree that he perceived a benefit versus risk, then rationalized it.

I'll guess that the benefit was either to keep playing or somehow convert the funds to something more liquid, and was worth the risk.

As far as rationale, it's anybody's guess. I wouldn't be surprised if he thought along the lines of 'the poker world owes me', and/or 'they can afford it.' We won't know for sure unless he creates yet another monkey account to explain.

I would be remiss in not thanking the 2+2 mods and CarbonRyan for escalating this problem to Carbon Management.

Also it seems that Mike (Haven?) was already working this issue behind the scenes.

If not for their help and persistence I'm sure this incident could easily have been ignored.

Can anyone tell me why paypal is not allowed? Does it violate PP's TOS or is it just a scam issue?

Both.

It's against their TOS and it's easily reversible.

Are credit unions as safe for transferring as major banks? I'm doing a trade upwards of 10k so I'm trying to figure out which would be better. Both are options for me.

I'm inexperienced with this. Is it possible for someone to reverse their transaction post-trade? This is my main fear..

Any transaction can be reversed, and as such, no trade is 100% safe. However, there are steps you can take to minimize these risks, such as only trading with reputable traders.

OK First thing first, I went look at all of your post, there is not one post confirming a trade with the director, you know that it is form rules to confirm trades...... Why you would not post confirm trade to build up your rep.????? Anyways anyone doing trade be very careful check his post, I might have over look it, but I do not see a one post confirming a trade was done and for the amount and who sent first and so on.

OK So from now on confirm right after trade, seem like all of the other trades director done they confirmed right here in the forum, I am not saying you scammed anyone, just saying confirm it and you would not have this issue at hand, you put your self in the line of fire, so dont come at me like that.

The best way to build a verifiable history is for both parties to post their trade in this thread. It's also a rule here. See Rule #1 (Expanded).

Party #1 posts a trade request.
Party #2 posts a reply.

After the trade is complete,
Party #1 posts a confirmation.
Party #2 posts a confirmation.

Doing that establishes a clear record of who did what. No further inquiry is needed.

Secondly, if you want to quantify your confirmed trades, you may care to avoid subjective words such as 'many'. Just count your trades and say how many, or something along the lines of 'about a dozen', or '10+'.

@Director & , kgb11, when you read this, please give us an idea of how many
trades you have completed with each other.

@kgb11, if anyone contacts you via AIM regarding a trade, please let us know.

@mod, move this to discussion thread?

Hi,
I'd like to post a trade offer I'd like to do for a friend. He was previously banned from the trading thread for posting without his PMs activated. I'm wondering if the screennames that he posted are redflagged or anything? Will I be breaking any rules doing this trade?
