i think he wanted to keep it specific to 2+2 since he posted here. im also pretty sure he knows what google is...
go play poker...

in response to the OP Q, i dont see a reason to spend $ on rent for an office, unless youre ballin and playin high limits. If that is the case maybe a change of enviroment is just what you need. If you have a house though, you can buy like a 12x16 TuffShed for like 5gs, and add insolation and AC for another 2k... might be something else to consider.

Boohaa12,

Your post is a monument to ignorance not stopping you from commenting on a subject. You have totally missed the point of the thread in your efforts to try to be smart.

The growing phenomenon of co-working has arisen because there are an increasing number of independent (typically web-based) workers who lack social interaction in their independent, web-based work.

If OP is serious about addressing the issues that he raised, he should investigate co-working in LA. I am certain that such groups would exist in a town as big as Los Angeles, and he would do well to go and have a look.

They offer the OP precisely what he was after.

He does not want an office because he wants to have four walls around him. He wants an office in the sense of social interaction with people.

I think that's a fantastic idea OP, I would be down for that but I live too far away.
This idea is good even for a working mindset. Such as coming to work to do my job for 8 hours, and consult/interact with your co worker, instead of sitting half on your chair in your pajamas with a half eaten bag of Doritos on your chest clicking buttons.

yeh thats more or less what i was thinking of. im sort of wondering how to be more professional and less degenerate about my work. i had another idea of working in a friend's office down the street. at least i would have to put on pants and take a shower. ive done the pajama and dorito thing so many times i cant even remember.

the other item is i think i would play more focused if i was in a more professional environment...

Since you live in LA, there are lots of B&M's you could visit to "get out" for awhile.

Sounds like you're a multi-tabling bot

I think the live games are better, but of course, you can't play 8 tables at once.

i actually used to play lots of tables
but realized im better off only doing 2 or 3 and grabbing more
detail. but yeh goal is to convince myself im in office mode so i avoid those doritobrain moments when i might make a bad play or call

i went ahead and rented an office in a high rise mid wilshire starting last month.
its not a bad arrangement. the guy who im sharing the suite with is in real estate. my schedule is much more afternoon/ evening oriented anyways so we generally have the office to ourselves. but i often overlap a bit w him in the afternoon. gym is right across the street.
all thats missing is a secretary to get me coffee.

kind of weird going up the elevators w all these accountants and lawyers.

lol.

Hope this works for you. Seems an expense you could do without, although I understand you need the social interaction. When I first read your post I thought you specifically wanted a "poker office" which I think would be a superb idea - i.e. half a dozen, or so, poker players renting an "office", getting the social interaction but also bouncing ideas around on improving each others game. If a player is going through an iffy time then having a buddy on hand to help would be great.

i just wondering, i like to play poker alone, since i am not good enough to play and think and chat at the same time.
but what kind of social interaction are you looking for?
your main hr is at night i believe. and nobody working at night.....

ally, with the advent of "working from home" in many businesses people often miss a general chit chat over a coffee and just having a bit of banter. Also, home working does not suit everyone - some people need to leave for work in order to get into work mode. Staying at home can often have unecessary distractions - kids, spouse, etc, just normal household chores. You need to be disiplined and some people can't hack it at home.

However, I am a little confused with the OP as it seems he is often alone at the office which is kind of strange. But each to his own I guess.
