2009/06/06@0:01 CHEQUE CASHOUT CANCELLED

Was really expecting it to be in my mail box this morning as they usually come like clockwork. I have never had any issue at all depositing paper checks and am slightly pissed that I didn't even get an email explanation from PS and have to come here to find out what is going on.

Same. I requested a check on 5/31 and recieved it around 6/3. Deposited it yesterday, it was in pending status all day, and this morning its cleared.

Didn't make a note of whether or not it was the same processor as all my others, but it looked the same to me and had the same illegible signature.

I haven't read the entire thread, so this may have already been answered.

Did anyone that cashed out on June 2nd or after actually receive the physical check from stars? I've usually gotten my checks in 2-3 days, but figured something was up when I still didn't get it by this Friday.

Then I got the same email everyone has been getting, but I don't have a check to cash in the first place.

Some have recieved physical checks, cashed them, and shortly after were warned by email from stars not to cash them. So you're lucky you dont have one to deposit.

I deposited a check for $2500 yesterday before I found out about the problems. Apparently it was from the processor that is sending out the checks that are bouncing. It took 12 hours but I finally got a response back from Stars and they said I shouldn't have any problems.

Why did they say you aren't going to have problems with depositing a bad check?

Because it looks like the processor has another account that is still open. So far Stars doesnt think there is a problem if the check wasnt from a big national bank but rather a smaller regional bank

Thank you for your email.

As soon as PokerStars and the affected check processor have
ascertained the situation, we will let you know how we plan to
proceeed. You should expect an update by end of day Monday.

Any new check you request via the PokerStars Cashier will be issued
from a different bank account and can be deposited and cashed without
problems.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

If we can be of further assistance, feel free to contact us with any
questions or concerns you may have.

Best regards,

so basically you can order checks fine now and they will clear.. as far as those who have affected checks (myself included) we have to wait until Monday for a Stars response.

On the flip side, has anyone received a check requested this week?

You're correct, the government has never before enacted legislation that says UIGEA has to be enforced before the end of the year.

It's a slippery slope, and the government has just poured Astroglide on the slide. We went from being able to deposit with any credit card or even PayPal, to fewer credit cards and Netteller and debit cards for cashouts, to having to do echecks and prepaid gift cards to deposit ... what's next?

USA online poker banking is getting harder, not easier. We could be reduced to only mailing in pieces gold to fund and getting paid our cashouts in Sklanksy Bucks, and some of the denial masters here woudl persist in saying online poker is fine and USA fish will always find a way to deposit. Sure, all 73 of them.

E checks are down indefnitely. I requested a paper check yesterday. Stars told me they have several processors so Checks requested in the present will not be affected.

i deposited a check from the processor in question on june 4th. it went from a pending transaction to a posted transaction on june 5th (the day i received the e-mail from stars), according to my online banking. should i still expect it to be withdrawn from my account? did anyone else see their deposit actually post to their account before being withdrawn?

I got the email from Stars saying not to cash the check, which I requested on 5-27 and have not yet recvd. I sent them back an email letting them know that I am a dual American/Canadian citizen living in the US and that I have a Canadian bank acct. but got a canned response. Anybody know if the check will clear in Canada when or will the same problem exist there since it is a processor issue?

Right. I received a check Thursday, which I deposited Friday (I didn't even know there was a problem until someone mentioned it at one of my tables) from the "problem" processor's account at Regional Bank I've Never Heard Of. I received this last night an hour or so after I emailed them:

Hello Craig,

Thank you for your email.

We appreciate that you contact us with your questions and concerns.

You can feel free to deposit your cheque at your convenience, as the
difficulties experienced are related to a localized number of cheques, and
we can confirm that your recent cheque has not been affected by this situation.

Still, it's a bad sign. No matter how diligently Stars and the other sites work to make sure players can move money, every additional thing that happens that makes it look sketchy is going to turn off casual American players.

Oh of course, its not good, but its much better if the issue is just with one account and checks are still clearing

Yeah, the account is no good, its not an issue with the US financial system clearing the checks, its that the account the check is drawn on can't disperse money. Its gonna bounce.
