What is actually the case?

Do we get any break this year? Or same expected VPPs with ~5 less weeks?

I'm going back and forth with security, and hopefully it won't take too much longer, kind of an annoying exchange... I'm obviously not making up the fact that I moved, lol.

Had a great run in early April, but the last 30 days have been quite possibly the worst below ev run of my life. Going to end my poker career ~$100k (~10k bbs) below ev.. yuck. Oh well, without this job I'd never have been able to afford my tuition, lifestyle, etc., so overall I'm very lucky to have found it =)

GL guys!
ahhh no way! what will you do in "the real world" after poker? and you're moving to the US and are... canadian? how come?

PokerStars Steve:

Is there any chance of having the limit of one Chinese IP per table restriction removed? It seems to me that this was mostly instated to keep the Chinese group from colluding in the DoNs which are no longer around. I mostly play FR cash games, but am finding it very difficult to find a table to sit at. I think this game would be very hard to collude in, and most of the people with Chinese locations are not Chinese anyways. Of the regulars I recognize, one is from South America, two are from the US, and one was originally from Canada. Only two regulars that I know of are actually from China.

If nothing else, could the restriction at least be removed for FR tables where it is too likely that another person with a Chinese location is already at the table?

Nope, much better. You get to start with your current VPPs ('Current' meaning as of April 15th).

The game security team reviews this policy from time to time. I will mention your comments and concerns next time the topic comes up. I do not think there is a very high probability of this policy changing though.

.
I haven't seen even a hint that they are even considering any kind of 'break' whether it would be not losing SNE status at the end of september or only having to get 950,000 vpps to get SNE for 2012 or whatever. As far as I can see it's just going to be business as usual once you get up and running

just arrived in montreal yest.. DONT COME HERE!! Go elsewhere, I lived my whole life 5 minutes from Manhattan. This place is just to weird, choatic, and on top of it they all speak f** french. The border took about an hour. Think procedure at customs is prob if ur saying you are staying for more then a week theyll send you to immigration. At this point my whole car was searched, and bombarded with many questions. They asked if I was hear to play some online poker, and I said YES. Told them I was hear for three weeks to enjoy craphole downtown montreal, gamble in the casino here, and play some poker in my apartment. After what feels to be years, a lady who asked 201 questions bout my current life and plans, handed me back my passport and said "Don't get arrested, and gl in your tournaments."

Why did you pick Montreal over Toronto?

sadface +1 ... what a dumb way to end a 5 year streak, probably a blessing in disguise though.

This really needs to be addressed soon and the details released.

Thanks for the responses about getting through Canadian customs. Nhatley, if you don't mind, what exactly did you say initially? Did you say something like "I'm a professional poker player and will be leasing a place here to play for the next few months" or something like "I am here to visit friends and play some poker".

It seems like the latter might be better in terms of getting through without getting detained, but since I'll be coming back and forth 4-5 times, it might be best to just tell the exact truth. I don't know. Either way, we should def meet up in Toronto. What is you PS name?

MellowYellow, where in Canada did you move to?

i've heard there's a real world out there... nice run with the SNE and poker in general though, and a pleasant opponent too. vague message, but maybe see you on the tables in the future?
05-17-2011 , 06:26 PM
So basically if you have 200k vpps and were planning on relocating in july/august to continue SNE, you might be better off enjoying 6 months off and getting started Jan 1st with a 200k vpp head start but not getting the partial milestones back

I know I'm not the only one who has had this conversation a hundred times this month:

-Why are you moving out of the country?
-Because the US government shut down online poker.
-WHY DID THEY DO THAT???

Anyone figured out a non-rambling script to follow yet? Answers like "because they suck" or "it's complicated" never satisfy people.

You could always go with "because the site owners were committing complex bank fraud schemes to facilitate play in the U.S."

Because Freedom fighting governement executive wanted more freedom to enjoy their yatch and sexcapades in the third world islands would be more accurate.

Seriously lol at the guy who hates Montreal, i have yet to see a single person from anywhere in the world dislike montreal. It's not a city for antisocial nerds though, very social, very friendly as long as you don't walk around with a USA cap and acting as if you deserve a higher status than the rest of the world (a la new yorkaise as they say there).
