I don't think everybody should be too upset about this becoming the Stars LC thread.

A couple of notes regarding the 2MTT: It appears that PokerStars is going to fall below it's expected number of entrants (12,000). This is likely due to the server problems they had this week (I'm actually not certain that the 2MTT satellites were affected by this, but I do know that SNGs were knocked out several times this past week and MTTs were knocked out at least once). Right now there are about 7800 registered.

I've changed my position in regards to liking this promotion after considering the indirect effects that it will have on the games as a whole as some of you have pointed out. A lot of players who might be short on a poker bankroll are going to have fpps converted to cash after this event and many of them will be donating at the cash games. So even though Stars is likely adding a bunch of money to the prizepool, they'll likely see that money come right back to them (plus some) as a result of this promotion. I think everybody wins here.

I just can't talk myself into playing in this thing. Because, 1) I suck at poker and 2) I suck at tournament poker, I just don't see any value in this thing for me. If the chance of me making it into the money is 50/50 it's not that much bette3r than 50/50.

There are a ton of fpp satellites pumping out right now.

But I'm still gonna guess that this falls well short of the 12,000 originally projected.

I think I'm gonna play it if there are 10,000 players or less.

i was looking at it as a win win situation

if it doesn't make 12k, thats good for me

if it does, alteast i'd make $10

but if you are that confidient, then i'll trust you

All depends on the rush 10 minutes before the tourney starts... you know how alot of players wait til the last few minutes to register.

If I had to guess now I would say about 10300.

When I was knocked out (early) of the live staff tourney the big boss said get back to work.

Don't think we will have the mad rush to register because of the limited amount of players with 10,000 FPPs.

I don't think the 15 minute buffer after it starts is going to help it too much. People who are going to play it will sign up for it.
Maybe a handful of people will just wait and wait to see whether the overlay stays good. But I don't think it will be many.

Remember that you can't sign up with cash for this thing. Only so many players have 10k FPP's to begin with.

can you explain to us why stars didn't promote this more? why was there so little time between it being announced and it running? a few weeks of sats would've filled this thing up. stars didn't even send out e-mails about it.

of course, it's good for me, but from stars perspective it doesn't make sense. just wondering what the reasoning was.

Is there any chance similar tournaments will be played on a regular basis (i.e. twice a year or on an annual basis)?
