It was just mentioned in the Supernova Elite thread but I thought it deserved its own thread since so many people heard it might be coming but might not see the announcement in that gigantic thread.



Many people were counting on the likelihood of some type of double VPP promo at some point in May due to a couple of previous hints that it May be coming.

I agree that Scottyy made an error in mentioning it if it wasn't 100% going to happen and I think he now sees that even just the most casual mention created an insane amount of buzz including some people already making plans to keep their month open so that they could grind insane amounts of hours when the promo officially started.

I also think it might have been a good idea for him to come back and douse the fires a little bit beforehand with some warnings of, "Look guys...I know you're all excited and everything but I only said it MIGHT happen. It very well might not so lets not everyone get too carried away."

Similar to that I think it would be unwise for everyone to start freaking out that this MUST somehow mean thye are going to do it when they approach their 20 billionth hand sometime in Oct or Nov perhaps. They don't have to do one at all you know. I think that speculating on these things is silly.

Maybe they've decided they really want their Elites to 'earn it' and that they aren't so in love with double-points promos anymore.
Or maybe they are doing one in November.
Or maybe they are doing on in June.

They could be thinking anything and unless any of you guys are involved in the Stars morning management meetings and know what they're planning on I think trying to speculate on it is crazy.

well that sucks and this doesn't just help the plp going for sne but the little guys like me going for sliverstar or the sliver going for platitum it makes it easier for everybody to jumped up one vip level.

fwiw I'm kind of "indifferent" on this decision. It would have been great, but I wasn't counting on it like a lot of other players were.

I love promotions just like anybody else. Maybe we'll see something for the 20 billionth hand later in the year.

how sure are we that will do a 2o billion hand cleberation i know they usally make a big deal about milestone number of hands , but is there a guarantee going to happen again this year.

I do hope Stars look at this and reconsider the issue of pre-announcing major promo's.

I think that would be good for everyone including Stars.

They never pre-announced anything.

chezlaw - I don't like the implications of them springing this announcement on us at the last minute that they have decided to pre-announce them in the future.
Thus I believe Stars should announce that they have decided to announce that they are going to pre-announce such promos. That way with an announcement that they are going to make the announcement about the pre-announcements I can be adequately prepared.

wow, this combined with the echecks fiasco going on atm really puts a sour taste for pstars in my mouth... i may for the first time ever consider a site switch

and combining this w/ the fact that the fpp store is out of stress stars makes this unbearable imo

Somewhat educated guess: they profit ~half a million a day.

I don't think Stars is a profitable company. It's all an optical illusion.

I really wish I had been given some leadin time for this post Bob because it caught me totally off guard.

That said, I'll be back later in the thread to give formal pre-announcement of my intentions to announce I will make a post.

I'm glad this isn't happening. The tables are tough enough lately. I want fish not promos!

I did but I'm certainly not going to win it every week. If I was going to then I obviously would be fine with it

I think we need to give Stars some space on this.

My educated guess is the is directly related to Echecks / Epassporte / Paper checks that is just starting to become a bigger problem, epsecially after the last WSOP deposit bonus promotions and the problems post promotion that it is causing for some. I would assume these promotions are to bring new players to their site. If they are having problems moving money currently, why try to grab new customers. No use if the fishpond does not get restocked.

Thats just meh so many hopes and pffff
