I guess I could be wrong; I checked briefly last night and saw in both clients 4 people registered for the same $11 MTT with the same name.

I'll confirm with someone from pwin.

Also, weather they do or don't share....why do I need a separate screen name for each ?
That's pretty common for the network-skin model. You have separate accounts on different ipoker skins even though they share the same pool. In fact, that's the case on partypoker.com/bwin.com/wpt.com, which share the same player pool but you have different accounts at each.

So if they share a player pool, and I play a tourney on Borgata I appear as one name, but if I play next week, on Party Poker.....I appear as someone else ??
That's how it normally works, yes. Sometimes a network restricts a user to just one account on the network, but this is rare. I can't say for sure if its the case here.

I'll confirm this.

Wouldn't allow me to enter the same user name on both
Not normally.

Some poker networks allow different screennames on different skins and some don't. I assume the two pooled networks in NJ (PartyPoker and Ongame) will prevent you from playing on more than one skin at the same time, even though you may have different SNs on each skin. But someone ought to test it out using different computers for each skin at the same time. Might be a major flaw in their systems.

Update: Confirmed with bwin.party that BorgataPoker and PartyPoker NJ share the same player pool.

edit: Further Update: You can have accounts on both sites.

So it's probably best to play on a pooled site for the soft launch, no? They should be able to have 500 concurrent per skin, shouldn't they? So twice the potential player pool for the next 4 days.

Update: So Golden Nugget Poker was on the approved list last night and I'm sure I saw a client download option (Ongame); but apparently didn't go live. It was just removed from the 'approved' list on the DGE website; casino stays up.

They are still planning on being live for poker tonight tho.

edit: And betfair did go live last night for real money play

The max rake on the sites I could check for full ring 1/2 NL looks to be $2 less than live ($3 if there's a BBJ). Compared to Sands where I usually play and the few rooms I've been to in AC, seems to be a bargain. To put it in context, I haven't played online since Black Friday. Am I missing something?

Has anyone tried huds/hem yet to see if it's working on any of the nj sites?? Or not yet?

I think the HU rake was way out of whack on whatever site that guy was playing, I assume that'll get fixed once enough people complain.

For 6max/FR games, it looks like most of the sites stand at around 4.5% with $3 max. Borgata is the worst at around 5.5%, $3 max at most games but as much as $5 (ugh) at high stakes, and .01 taken out per .18 in the pot (so you get absolutely no break at all on the increments...dem pennies add up).

Thanks for the info. I created accounts for both hoping to get onto one of them last night. Would not let me use same screen name because it said mine was already in use.

Did you have any success accessing deposit options on either of the sites? I saw one sit and go run, at around 9pm I believe, and after that I saw one guy reg'd for a SnG for the rest of the night. Were there cash games running - I could not find a way to list the tables and player numbers in that client...

I had no intention of joining in during the soft play period, but ended up bored last night and gave it a shot around midnight.

I decided I would just try to download so I could check out software and rail a bit. All of my hardware at home is Mac. I immediately had issues attempting to download software. In Safari, I was unable to download anything from WSOP or 888. Switching to Firefox fixed that. Then I discovered that most of the sites do not have Mac clients. Bummer. Have other mac users discovered any clients other than 888 and WSOP?

I want to bonus whore a bit after the soft play period, so I decided I would just find one client for testing purposes and leave the rest for next week. I settled on 888. After downloading and installing, I was immediately met by the dreaded "remote software detected" message. Took me quite a while to figure out - turns out that just having TeamViewer on my machine (even though it was not running, and is not a startup item) was the culprit. Reluctantly, I uninstalled it. My IT guy will bitch next time I need him to tunnel in to fix a problem and he has to wait for me to reinstall it. After uninstalling TeamViewer, I got the "unable to verify location" message. That one was fixed by a reboot.

My $10 signup bonus ($4 cash, $6 tournament tickets) was immediately available. I sat at 1¢/2¢ for an hour. Table had 4-8 players at various times through the hour. Play was smooth, no connection issues. The software will take a bit of getting used to.

My biggest question now is if and when all sites will offer Mac clients. I would even settle for an iPad client.

@pixelpusher: PartyPoker has native mac software; so you'd think them and Borgata will release it at some stage if its not already. I believe Ongame does to, its an Adobe Air client. Ultimate Poker doesn't yet, but its in the works and 'coming soon'.

I installed the Borgata poker client on my Mac laptop last night with no issues (other than not being able to play due to failure to verify my location). I had the issue of not being able to install the WSOP client, but it sounds like i may have to try a browser other than safari to do that.

Pretty upset with how garbage PartyPoker is. My verification didn't go through, so I sent my ID and utility bill. Understandably they couldn't accept the bill because it didnt have my name on it (addressed to tenants) but then they closed my account because I was under 21 . . . I think they don't understand. Just because you're under 21 when you get an ID, doesn't mean you're still under 21 -_-

Here's my report from last night:

I played at 888 and that's the only site I registered for so far. I had absolutely no issues, no error messages. Verification took all of 2 seconds for me. I signed up sometime around 7pm.

After I signed up, I played all night until 2am. There was constant play at 888 but the tables were 1c/2c. Which is fine for me. Especially for the testing when I can look to build on the bonus money I received. At one point there were 2 full tables and that lasted for a while.

I was up to around $13.50 from being at the 1c/2c tables. Then I made the mistake of joining an $8 buy-in tournament. I figured I'd give it a shot but it was just a mistake in these early stages. Realized once it was too late that I should've just stayed at the cash games. Whatever, I was eliminated from the tourney at a really bad time (mismanaged my stack and I was close to getting paid).

After that I went back to cash games. At the end of the night as things got slow and I became bored, I started to play foolishly and make silly calls and bets. I was shocked to see how much I lost from those calls. So now I'm down to $3.15 about. Should've never joined that tourney. I guess the foolish calls were my biggest mistake.

Lots of fun, constant action, and no issues for me. Would love to see more tables fill up but the time will come. Just hoping it doesn't get slower as people lose their bonus. I might try another site tonight or might just stay with 888.

Ultimate- I was unable to deposit money. I could play there but there was zero traffic.

I didn't try Borgata or Party, they are giving a $20 sign-up bonus to those that wait until after trial/soft play ends.
The software running in the background will be an issue on any site. usually its LogMeIn, Gotomeeting, or teamviewer. Sometimes others, especially if you have a VPN installed. Even if your VPN or other program isn't turned on, its probably running in the background.

You MAY be able to disable them from your task manager. Some like teamviewer, don't allow it, because it just reopens automatically. You can either uninstall it or we can try to force it down another way.

If you need help finding the offending software,, or disabling it, let me know, and I will try to help you.

For those that think they live too close to borders etc, in most, almost all, cases you will still be verified. As long as you have the Wi-Fi enabled, and live in an area where there are other wi fi connections (like your neighbors etc), the process will be able to find you in NJ and you can play. The more connections in your area, the easier it is to find you

The most important things are the Wi-Fi being enabled and remote programs being turned off.

Saw you in multiple places on 888. I like how they had a chat and the website worked well for me (after I figured out my remote access program running in the back was TeamViewer, which Task Manager didnt even bring up so I had to uninstall it). By the time I left to go out at 10:00pm I was a little over 20 bucks, which hey, that's a nice meal so pretty happy. The software is terrible though, but as the only site that actually WORKED for me, I'm okay with it.
