The more I think about your screen name the funnier it gets, I hope to see you around so I can quiz you on your favourite characters etc.

Here's a perhaps different angle on this:
Are there many/any Stars players who actually like that nobody gets to change their name?
I mean, I kind of understand Stars reason for wanting to do this to protect all the players and for everything to be equal, etc etc.
Name-changes may perhaps even make it trickier for other players to detect collusion since to somebody like me who might be able to report something suspicious to them it would not appear to be the same two guys playing anymore after they changed their names.
But I don't think that becomes a huge concern if you only allow a name-change once every 6 mths or a year or whatever.

My point is that if practically everyone on 2+2 and outside of 2+2 either has no problem with it OR would prefer they allowed name-changes then I think Stars would be wise to consider the vast majority of their customer base.
So that brings me back to my original question: Are there players on Stars who think it's actually a good thing that they don't allow name-changes? I guess it might be that way for some of the high-stakes dudes. But it also seems like some of them are getting on other people's accounts for such purposes anyway.

bobo - oh...I wasn't even thinking of OP's Stars-name. That was such a silly dilemma that I guess I blocked it from my mind entirely or something.
Thought you were responding to me. I just clicked a link and saw this weird video and thought "WTF?" But that happens frequently with me now that I think about it.

I have been adamantly against Lee Jones' daily name change idea because of the hinderance in detecting collusion, superuser, etc.

I think that changing every 6 months or a year would be ok.

Are you gonna change your ps screen name?

I don't know whether you noticed, but I mentioned you in a reply to AF0808. I now feel much better about Poker Stars than when I wrote that message.

Funny story how I got my stars name changed. My previous screen name was "Boobie Lover". So, I win a seat to the PCA, and cash in it. When you cash in it, they transfer money to your account. This middle aged lady asked me what my name was, which I sheepishly say is Boobie Lover (thought it was funny when I originally created it never intending to actually you know one day be a professional gambler).

Well, she gave me this weird look and frowned at me. I e-mailed stars a couple days later and got it changed to NoTalentTom after requesting I never have to face that awkward situation again. Although, I guess it is a little awkward when I meet a liquidpoker person now.

bob,

I think the reason stars wont ever cave on the 6 month thing that everyone would love to see, is they claim screen names changes are INCREDIBLY difficult due to the way their software is set up. Some BS about having to change every HH or some ****, I dunno, personally I think its a lie, but whatever.

Had heard that Lee was in favor of name-changes but didn't know that he wanted players to get to do it everyday.
I agree this is a tad extreme but I would still go for it. Concerns about making it easier for the cheaters are certainly valid though.

Would prefer once every 6 months or year.

"Are you gonna change your ps screen name?"

I'm not sure what you mean by this question. Stars doesn't allow it so I'm not going to be changing it.
If they changed this policy and allowed players to change their screen-names then I would most certainly be taking advantage of it and would also be far less paranoid about letting others know my future screen-names that I would eventually end up ditching of course.

I am strongly in favor of allowing name-changes. Daily would be nice for me though I see why some people wouldn't like that. Every 6 months would also be nice.

I asked stars if I could change mine because it was an affectionate term used for someone in my family who died in a tragic accident. They complied within the hour.

I love Pokerstars.
