GG Minted Poker. Haven't played at Minted for a long time but I still respect Neil a lot.

Hate to see you leave the US Market!

Received this from my rakeback provider.

At the end of the business day last night ELG (Everleaf Gaming Network) informed Minted Poker that they were no longer going to accept play from the USA and France
The decision had been made after a series of events that cumulated in a letter from US homeland security warning them to cease and desist poker operations in the US or the directors and owners of the network would be subject to legal proceedings.
The Directors of the network and their legal counsel then met with the Maltese Licensing Authority the LGA and asked advice under their license agreement.
The LGA advised that the network should pull out of the US and French markets completely and as quickly as possible, they are also going to aid in discussions in how player funds held in ring fenced accounts are cashed out back to the players effected.

Minted Players are been assured that all monies held (in the US and the rest of the world) are secure and ring-fenced. The Maltese Licensing Authority is reportedly going to aid in discussions about how funds can be cashed out to those online poker players affected. The European network will continue to run, but all existing accounts will be converted to Euro accounts, and obviously all US-based players will no longer play at the tables at Minted Poker or any other Everleaf Gaming partnered online poker site.

There will be a series of announcements from the network starting tomorrow regarding the situation and the process Minted will keep all informed as they receive information to make the process as painless as possible for those affected.

All players were affected by the winnings cap. Pretty sure they manually excluded people so it's not like they can magically just lock us out. They had some obvious software glitches that seemed like super easy fixes but they never fixed them. I'm sure they just locked players out because it was the easiest fix possible.

If people want to check balances, just try logging into the minted website. It took a few tries but worked for me. Money is still on account but in euros.

I just logged in and this is true... except for the fact that they yoinked nearly 100 euros in the conversion. I even used 1.3 as my conversion rate, despite the last conversion rate I remember them using (yesterday or the day before) was 1.294 dolla per euro.

Nope just someone that has followed this thread and plays on Minted.

We'll see... I also played yesterday and made roughly $140 in the morning before I knew what the ToS said (lol me for just accepting it without reading it). They may have just deleted that amount from my account before changing it over.
02-10-2012 , 02:27 PM
It let me log on to the site. I see this under account details:

2012-02-10 12:53:46 CHANGE HOMECURRENCY OF PLAYER TO EURO/95

I think they screwed me on the conversion as well. I'm guessing /95 might mean 95% of value? idk. I'm afraid I don't know the exact amount I had on the account beforehand but the amount I have now does seem light.

Edit: Nevermind, found the original USD amount under the "transfers" tab, and can confirm that the resultant amount was light if we are assuming a conversion rate of 1.294 USD per EURO. Not light by 5% but by 3.65%.

I have no problem "spending" $100 to play a game I enjoy with the perks of winning some money because i'm half decent at it (micros ABC ftw)...i'd have no problem spending $100 and losing it either...I get enjoyment out of playing...i can't go to the casino, play poker, and make $100 last over a month (without going on an insane heater.) I don't get enjoyment playing PS3 or Xbox games. I do get enjoyment playing poker in all its forms.

I see my friends spending $250+ on a PS3 or xbox then $60 for a single game then a few weeks later another $60 or better yet buying a gaming PC for $1k+...why can they spend that much money on a game while I can't? I'm getting entertainment and having fun while they are doing the same.

I agree that anyone who put a massive amount of money online is stupid...we all knew there was risk and with any deposit you should have kissed it good bye and seen it as "entertainment value." But saying to quit completely when I (and others) thoroughly enjoy this game is dumb. I'm not addicted to making $5 a week playing 1k hands. I'm having fun playing a game I enjoy. I deposited and kissed my money goodbye. I ended up doubling it and cashed out just in time. I got lucky. I also got entertainment from playing poker so even if I did lose it, I didn't "get nothing" out of it. I'm gonna go deposit $100 on another site and have fun again. Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm actually saving $200 because I'm not going to buy a PS3 or xbox for any other entertainment.

I seem to have lost about 2% in the transfer based on google.

I'm a former US player who just recently relocated. I got verified by minted as relocating by just sending them the same documents i sent stars. I requested a MB cashout on on the 28th and got it on the 9th. Pretty much right after I get paid out they ban US players. I'm wondering if they paid out a bunch of the nonus cashouts right before the announcement.

Perhaps most shocking and disturbing is that my player rating has been reset to... *gasp* ... ONE STAR!! OH, THE HUMANITY!!

Did you win any money sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning? My conversion rate was ~1.33.

I don't understand why they would convert our money if they plan on giving it back to us?? Does this mean when we cash out we will be receiving it in euros (lol?) or will they convert it back to USD? Looking to make a bit more money off commission from conversion fees?

Actually, based on the current google conversion rate, I came out ahead. Whatever, I'm just being a nit. Having lost a good chunk on FTP I'll be happy to get whatever out of this fiasco.

What a sad state of affairs when customers are just pleased to get some of their money back.....

Everyone who has even 1 penny tied up in this BS write or tweet a member of congress TODAY.

thanks
