Hi, sorry if this post is in the wrong forum but...
I have recently moved to the Netherlands and have got a Dutch bank account. I have finally received a debit card but said card doesn't have a similar quantity of numbers to my English one...in fact the numbering system is fairly different. Anyone have any experience/knowledge in this area?

Yes, a Dutch bankcard has numbers ranging from 7 to 9 digits, I believe. At least, my two bankaccounts have 7 or 9 digits

But I can still use it to deposit on sites like FullTilt and PokerStars as far as you know?
Is the 3 digit "card number" on the front what you use for the security card?
And any idea about "valid from" date as I only have a "valid thru" date

no the 3 digit card number is for Credit cards
The word debit card we use ( holland belgium etc) has a different meaning.
So your Dutch bank account is a regular account but its not possible to use that card to deposit funds INSTANT on ur account. its done over bank transfer wich takes a couple days.

BUT sorry, someone from holland should help me out here
they have the option IDEAL, wich is the same as direct Ebanking and actually is the same as a Credit card, altho your funds will be deducted as soon you deposit.
So Ideal is THE BEST solution for Dutch people to deposit instantly with a regular bankaccount as yours

Do post offices / newsagents sell these vouchers, where you give them 100 euros say, and they give you a voucher you can use online to deposit?
I notice that FullTilt has something called iDEAL to deposit immediately...that sounds good I guess.

Yes
IDEAL is the most common way to deposit at your account
also considering you are thinking about postoffices : PAYSAFECARD is the one you are looking then. these are vouchers varieing from 10 to 100 euros
maximum use per deposit 10 vouchers of 100 euros ( 1K)
www.paysafecard.com and you can locate a presshop / postoffice in your area
but again, someone from Holland should help you out with the IDEAL thingy

srry I couldnt help with that a bit more

No, thanks a lot for your help

Btw, I can't find details on google but is this iDEAL method free of charge? Can't find any evidence of fees thus far...

Lol, ok...any idea when it's not :P? Presumably just to deposit on Stars/FT, it'll be free then

And withdrawal wise, is the only way via a bank transfer? Or does this iDEAL method work for withdrawals too?

Sometimes I pay a small fee (like 1 euro) when I order something online (food, clothes whatever). Like I said, most of the time it's free of charge: works like a charm. I don't know whether or not it's free on stars/FT because I don't play there, but my guess is that it will be free.

However, to cashout, you need a bank transfer. (or get an ewallet. I use Neteller which is great imo).

OP, i did study abroad in Utrecht. The iDeal method to deposit into stars and FTP is much easier than any system in the states. 1. Open up a Rabobank (or other bank) account 2 Activate Online Banking in the branch, obtain their little keycode thing. 3. Use iDeal option with stars/fulltilt. 4. Works for withdrawls too, no fees and decent exchange rate

I am soon moving to the Netherlands and understand their could be new laws put in place where internet poker sites would need a licence.

I have asked PKR about this and drawn a blank as they dont seem to be able to answer if they will be purchasing a licence.

I am hoping its like Belguim laws are in place but they still play at PKR.

Our government announced that all pokerrooms can stay open and accept Dutch players till regulation starts. There are a few other things that rooms has to do to be considered for a license when the market is regulated. Small ones compared to not accept Dutch players.
So I think our government takes a pretty tolerant line towards regulation.

Paddy is traditionally more strict with countries where regulation is unclear, but you can still sign up on iPoker skins such as Titan and Poker770 if you are from the Netherlands.

How is the current state of online poker in Netherlands, which sites are legal to play on?

- Technically no sites are "legal" to play on, in that none have a local license. From the perspective of the Dutch regulator they are all "illegal"
- In reality, all operators are in the market and from a consumer perspective I don't think you're doing anything wrong playing on them.
- And most operators expect to get a license in the Netherlands when the regulated market goes live because they do not "actively" operate in the market
- Some might get a 1-year 'cooling off' period.
- Market might go live in 18 months

So if I understand this correctly in practice I can play on all of the bigger poker operators Pokerstars, partypoker, WPN, Ipoker etc.. and they wont give me trouble the only trouble I can expect is from Dutch regulators? If so are dutch regulators "active" in a sense that they search for people who are playing poker sites and punish them or is it a more of a "illegal on paper" sort of thing ? What kind of trouble can I expect in worst case scenario from Dutch regulators and is it helpfull to use VPN than?
