WHEN CAN WE HAVE HERO POKER BACK?...I MISS IT
01-28-2013 , 12:14 AM
Hero's VIP program would have been superior to the VIP program that they are moving to next week. I wish we had the Hero option. Hero would crush Merge VIP programs if they were still in business. Everyone would be playing on Hero. I guess the other Merge skins use the old affiliate model that gives the affiliates 40% of the players net revenue so they can't afford to give the players much anymore. Stupid affiliates. I liked Hero's direct marketing approach much better. Just eliminate the affiliates so you don't have to give them 40% of the players net revenue. That money then could be given back to us in a decent VIP program, like Hero had already.

Stupid affiliates, they take all our rake just because we click on a banner on their website that signs us up to Merge. What an idiotic system that is in place. Take away benefits from players and keep giving all of the players hard earned money to the bums who plaster affiliates links on their websites. Insane!

Did I say affiliates are pond scum sucking low life illiterate hillbilly's?

i guess we will never know the truth behind heros closing and never will have it to play on again

Dave, can we get some form of an update? I can now count on one hand the number of sites I will ever consider depositing to. So many sites and networks have broken the trust by screwing over their players, if not stealing their money outright, and it feels like that number is increasing by the week. If there is no is no progress soon on the PS or Hero fronts, I will probably just throw in the towel on online poker for good. I have no hope or motivation for the online game at this point and that lack of hope is beginning to turn into disgust, meaning even if reputable sites return to the US market, I will have no desire to get back in the mix, and in fact have negative feelings about the idea.

You have earned my trust and respect but the trends in the internet poker business as a whole have been very off-putting to me, particularly the Merge network, souring my attitude toward the entire industry. I realize that you have no control what other sites do, but I think if no reputable site pops up in the near future, the entire sphere of internet poker will be regarded as a wasteland for the degenerates. Some people in my home game have already crossed that bridge. They say even if PS were to pop back up sometime in the future, they have been screwed over one too many times to ever consider putting money back on an online site. I am not there yet, but as I survey the landscape and see nothing but ripoff sites and sites that take months to pay out, each passing day is pushing me closer to that camp. I foresee a day in the coming months where I join many others in saying "**** it" when it comes to online poker and just giving up on the entire idea. I can stick to home games and casinos. Us players need a site we can trust so I ask you to please share any updates that you have that aren't bound by a confidentiality or some similar agreement.

Reposted from http://www.terrencechanpoker.com/. On a personal note based on the last few posts in this thread that while I do not have insider knowledge as to what Dave is planning for re-launch, I'm very confident he will do right by you guys.

**begin post**

Effective today, I would like to announce that I am no longer a sponsored pro for Hero Poker. Hero Poker has treated me extremely well and I am very proud to have represented Hero over the last two years.

I would like to make it very clear that my departure from Hero Poker is not in any way a reflection of how I feel about Hero Poker’s future. Rather, I have a bit of a personal project that I am focussing on which will conflict with my ability to be a member of the Hero team. I will make an announcement about that project when it becomes official and I can discuss it, but I want this post to be about Hero Poker.

David Jung, Hero Poker's CEO, has been tremendous to me and the other Hero pros. He has asked very little of us and given tremendously. This is a man who, when I complained about being hungry at 11:30pm one night at the Aussie Millions, drove to the supermarket to cook me a steak at his house. He also accompanied me on a 6-hour train ride through South Korea to assist me in my second amateur MMA fight. I don’t know many poker site CEOs who would do that for one of his pros. And I know he carries this extra-mile attitude towards his customers as well. Despite the challenges that have faced Hero (such as Black Friday occurring three months after launch and the issues with their former network), I’m confident that upon their relaunch, Dave and his customer-first attitude can navigate his ship to prosperity.

So, I would like to close by thanking Dave for bringing me aboard the team, and to the Hero Poker players who signed up due to my endorsement. Good luck to Dave, my former teammates on Hero Poker, and of course, the players for playing there!

Basically confirms what we all knew about David: class act and one of the hardest working men we know. Thank you Terrence for taking the time to post this.

Sometimes your posts are kind of crazy.

Any skin on Merge would've had to conform to the network's VIP program in some way. They wouldn't allow a skin to just offer something that crushes their own brands in value.

And your affiliate opinions are off. Other Merge skins had the same VIP as Hero and still had affiliates.

It's not a question of either or, and Hero took a non affiliate approach apparently and other skins took an affiliate approach. That is fine. If I ran a poker room I would probably start by taking Hero's approach. But clearly it is beyond the capacity of every poker room to successfully market to a large enough amount of players (otherwise they would not have affiliates around).

I corrected your mistaken posts about affiliates and how it works in the other thread, others did too, please stop repeating incorrect statements about how things work, it's just simply not true and you just have it out for other people it seems.

An example to my last sentence is that you were outraged that affiliates got "40% of the rake" until I corrected you on what revenue meant and that it often meant 20-25% in the old system, and that you were ignorant of the customer service needed to take care of players at times, the costs of promotions and the value that most good affiliates provide (videos, coaching, software, electronics, rake races and more). If an affiliate gets 10% of a player's rake after all expenses, they are working on high margins in this industry. Nobody is saying "poor me" about affiliates (or poker rooms), but to act like affiliates are taking 40% of rake, or even 20% of rake is completely incorrect.

You never acknowledged any of these points so I'm calling you out for the false and ignorant post that you've continued to repeat on this subject.

I've sponsored and worked with a lot of top world wide pros during my time at Stars and with Hero and it was my absolute honour and privilege to have worked with Terrence. Without bull****, Terrence is what every sponsor would love to have: a player who is sincere, looks out for both the players and the company 's position for the players and who represents the best of the ideas of the company. Not only do I count him a friend, but I will be forever grateful for his own leap of faith in coming on board with Hero and I wish him the best of luck, success and safety in whatever his new interests take him.

Terrence, sincerely thank you for being one of the best pros a sponsor could have, it has been epic.

I was curious so I looked it up. He plays pretty tight so we didn't contest a ton of pots in those games, which were full ring for the most part. That said, I crushed his soul for nearly a quarter of a Big Bet!!! Good times.

Anything from Dave yet?

I've never played on Hero Poker but given the outstanding regard for it's CEO I'm very excited about the a potential relaunch on a different (or new?) network.
02-28-2013 , 05:44 PM
Bump for the new page: http://www.heropoker.co.uk/

Relaunch in mid-2013. Any additional info? New network or stand alone site? Allows US players? etc. etc.
02-28-2013 , 06:28 PM
I'm sure Dave will have the info in May.
