Hey everyone,

I am trying to sign up with gamesgrid poker and make a deposit but can't figure out if US players are allowed to play there? Also, is there any rakeback deals prior to signing up?

Thank you

Wow. That site is still around? I remember propping there about a zillion years ago.

Anyway, you can write to support there for deposit issues and to find out if they accept players from the US (or anywhere else)

How long have they been around for? So you didn't stop playing there because they blocked out Americans or anything like that?

Bob did they always admit to running bots on the site or is this something new?

Welcome to the Bot Family!
Our robot ('bot' for short) players are online 24/7 in the new game lobby to play you for free or for real money stakes. We have a wide variety of Bot players online, all of them unique and offering a revolutionary challenge to anyone wishing to learn, to play, to develop their strategy or to hit the jackpot!

Why have Bot players?
We're offering you Bot players as an alternative to playing against people for free or for real money stakes. Available online 24/7 our Bot players can play several hundred games, simultaneously. Why wait to get your game when you can play against a Bot on demand 24/7. Playing bots is also an excellent way of improving your game. Take ProBot on and think carefully about the moves that he makes.

How to spot a Bot?
You'll find all our Bot players clearly identified with a unique logo next to their username. The logo appears as a robot's head, different to all other players online. You'll also note that Bot players are super-fast in making their moves. You'll never find a real person able to move as quickly as a Bot player so rest assured it's patently obvious you're playing against a Bot. You may even find our Bot's playing each other so why not pop in and watch them play?

Play Bots for Real Money!
Our Bot players are designed to provide opposition for players of all abilities. We have Bots of various strengths who will accept challenges from players in their rating band or below for money.

Four very different Bots to play against!
We have four different bots available, each with different features. For example, can you beat ProBot? The exciting opportunity afforded by our ProBot is to test your skills absolutely free or for real money stakes against the equivalent of a world-class player. ProBot is the smartest bot player we have available. Can you beat him?

Please note, Bots are (perhaps unsurprisingly!) programmed not to lose too much money to any one player, so if you're much better than a Bot he'll stop playing you eventually. A bot may also refuse a challenge if he has run out of money!

What stakes do they play for?
This depends on the game in question. Our BeginnerBot plays only free games, whilst ProBot will play for high stakes. ProBot is better at some games than others however so doesn't play all games for the same stakes.

How to play a Bot?
Our Bot players only respond to direct challenges. You'll need to challenge them directly by adding them to your friends list or clicking on their names in the game lobby, or by choosing them in the drop-down list when you create a table.

Fairplay guaranteed
The Bots access the game servers just like any other player. Our random number generator and Bot accounts are all audited by external accountants.

Where did they come from?
Our family of Bots have been developed by world-class software engineers led by an expert with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. We're proud to be one of the only sites in the world offering transparent Bot opponents for free or for real money play.

No, I don't remember bots being there. Certainly not publicly outed bots like that. Seriously, I played there in 2004 I think. Maybe 2005. They had some sweet prop deals on other sites and that's the only reason I played there. 120% rakeback or something. A few others tried it out because they had a gigantic $1000 deposit bonus or something with favorable clearing requirements (but not as good as the 120% rakeback or whatever it was).

They had just a handful of tables going and I don't really remember why I left there. Maybe they ended the propping deal or maybe I just got bored with it and went elsewhere....or maybe they shut out the U.S. That actually sounds kind of familiar but so many sites all shut themselves out of the U.S. and roughly the same time that I wouldn't have noticed or cared if gamesgrid was in that bunch. I'm just having fond memories of the days back in 04 or whenever it was when they were desperate for traffic and giving really favorable bonuses and/or propping deals. I'm not even sure if they had NL tables back then.

Yeah Gamesgrid definitely brings back memories. I played there a few years ago. They did not have bots at that time. They were originally a backgammon site, then decided to offer poker. I played there for a while, then around the time that UIGEA passed, they closed to US players.

They did have NL games. I remember I used to play $1/$2 NL with a $300 buyin. There were usually the same 4-5 people on all the tables....I think they must have all been on the prop deal with MicroBob.

I remember fondly that they offered unusual games like Dealer's Choice and Kansas City Lowball. Their software was terribad, however.

What am I missing? Why not OMG Bots?

I also propped there years ago and had to empty the account because i think they closed down. It also used to be a backgammon site as well. Peak traffic was like 30 players, lol.

would be shocked gamesgrid is still around. had a buddy who was propping there in like 2005 and I remember his deal getting progressively worse and there were never more than maybe 35 players there.

and yes, the bot aspect is ridiculous.

cool stroll down amnesia lane.

I thought games grid went under several years ago. Still I remember the site fondly for its 160% rakeback they offered shortly before going under.

I did not realise they were back.

Yeah, now that you mention I think I might have actually played some of the NL there too. Also now that I think of it, I'm not quite 100% sure I actually cleared out my entire balance from there. Maybe I should try to find my account info and see if there's any leftover cash somehow. Would be kind of funny.

Having bots like that is totally standard in Backgammon, which is where Games Grid started. They're required to identify themselves, and I don't see anything wrong with it. It's nothing different than playing Poki or Polaris or whatever the one everybody in HU Limit was playing last year was.

I played there quite a bit several years ago, when they were the first site to run Dealer's Choice and NL 2-7. They never had much traffic and closed not long after UIGEA. I remember seeing their relaunch last year and thinking there was some reason it was unappealing besides just no US players, but I don't remember what.

is this the site that had some "huge" (maybe 2,000 players) freeroll to lauch their new software, and all their servers crashed due to the strain of so many people? this was prolly back in 06 or 07

I just think the forum is desensitized about anything to do with online poker anymore man. Not that I can blame people. It's becoming a free for all and anything goes tbh.

There was a thread recently about a skin on ipoker offering a HUD calculator to all players that included stats of hitting draws etc and even made suggestions such as (bet, fold, raise, etc) I was kinda surprised the only one who seemed to think there was anything wrong with that was the OP but apparently the OP was some sort of troll so everyone just gave him **** for that and didn't care about the calculator, in fact it was defended quite a bit.

There was also a thread the other day where the OP was telling his story of how he was banned from FTP for colluding and soft playing. There were a lot of posters who were giving him credit because he was "nice" or "presented himself in a respectful manor" or something. lol, that thread tilted the **** out of me

Sorry, but online players aren't that good. You could run a bot against another publicly available bot and it would do much more good in much less time. Frankly, automation of strategy is pretty trivial these days. It's interfacing and detection avoidance that are the challenges for an illicit botter, and this is irrelevant to that.

It's not that long ago that one piece of standard advice on 2+2 strategy forums was to buy a bot and practice against it to improve your game. Having one online is not any different.

GamesGrid shut down their poker room in 2007. They only have casino and other skill games to play. The OP was a moron, and starting this and a ton of other threads to try to scam someone. This should be closed. GamesGrid has not been a poker site in 3 years, and never will be again.

lol thanks, GrindUnumb. Out of curiosity though, did they have poker bots? I don't care about the other game bots, just curious if they had real money poker ones.

Not that I ever heard, and I think I would have. It was linked to a network with the original TonyGpoker. Never much traffic, but super loose games. The reason they stopped poker was once Neteller guys got arrested and money was frozen. GG found an alternate way to pay out player balances and shutdown the poker room.
